The Practice Of Localization In Sociology

From ancient times to the present,the chinese-western issue has always been a major issue in the course of our country’s development.The question of whether China will use the western style or be totally westernized or be quintessence of Chinese culture,is not only a question of national development and system level,but also related to the orientation and future development of Chinese academic circles.In order to explore the development of National Society,sociology was inevitably introduced in this piece of land in China,there appeared the symptoms of “acclimatization”,how to develop Chinese sociology and make it serve the construction of modern China,has always been one of the most important issues facing the sociological circle.As early as his Yenching University years,Wu Wenzao led his faculty and students to practice their approach to community study for the localization of sociology.He came to Yunnan University to establish the sociology department is to continue its Yenching School’s “academic save the country” localization practice.This led to the Yunnan University’s localization of sociology from 1938 to 1954.From the perspective of sociology localization,this paper analyses the teaching and scientific practice of the Department of Sociology from 1938 to 1954,and participates in the related discussion of the problem of sociology localization in the domestic academic circles.The paper makes use of the related archives,newspapers,books and other historical materials of Yunnan University and the Department of Society during the Republic of China period,in the context of the history of the discipline initiated by Wu Wenzao,led by Hsiao-tung Fei and led by Yang Kun until the Department of society was abolished in 1954 and merged into the Department of Economics and the Department of history,this paper sorts out the training of teachers and students’ teaching and research of the Department of Society of Yunnan University in each period,especially to 1948-1954 led by Yang Kun which has not got the attention of the academic circle,sorting and analysis of the Department of sociology’s teaching research and production practice,this paper tries to explore the practical experience of the localization of Sociology in Yunnan Province from the history of Chinese sociology,and provides new materials and possibilities for the academic circles to discuss the localization of sociology.
