Research On Social Trust And Life Satisfaction Of Urban Elderly

According to China ’s 2019 National Economic and Social Development Statistics Bulletin,as of the end of 2019,the elderly population aged 60 and above accounted for 18.1% of the national population,and the elderly population aged 65 and above accounted for 12.6%.The degree of population aging has further deepened.In this context,research on the life satisfaction of the elderly has attracted widespread attention.Since the reform and opening up,the social and economic level has greatly improved,and the social residents are no longer satisfied with food and clothing.As one of the important indicators to measure the quality of life and well-being of residents,life satisfaction has become a hot topic in all walks of life.Paying attention to the life satisfaction of the elderly is not only important for improving the quality of life of the elderly,but also of positive significance for contemporary youth.The quality of life of the elderly today affects the expectations of contemporary youth for their own future life in old age.Especially in the period of rapid and stable development of China’s urbanization process,the study of life satisfaction of the urban elderly is more important.Many scholars have studied economic status,living conditions,marital status,occupation,old-age support,social support,etc.as the influencing factors of elderly people ’s life satisfaction,but the promotion of social trust on life satisfaction is rarely involved in the study of the elderly.With the rapid economic development,the distrust between people has been deepened.Many studies have shown that social trust is one of the important factors that affect personal life satisfaction.Among the many influencing factors of life satisfaction of urban elderly,social trust has its own unique significance.Cities have faster pace of life and higher mobility of people,which makes the elderly living in cities have more opportunities to interact with the outside world.In this interactive process,social trust will have a certain impact on their attitudes and ways of doing things,which will affect the individual’s overall judgment and evaluation of life,and affect his level of life satisfaction.This article took Wuhan as a survey place,sorted out the relevant literature on social trust and life satisfaction and combined the actual situation to design a questionnaire,conducted a questionnaire survey on social trust and life satisfaction of the elderly in Wuhan to explore the impact of urban elderly social trust on life satisfaction.The study measured social trust from three dimensions: special trust,general trust,and universal trust,and used the SWLS life satisfaction scale to measure life satisfaction.Through the collection and collation of data,the structural equation model analysis method is used for empirical research.The analysis showed that the structural equation model fits well,and the model establishment was more reasonable.Studies have shown that the social trust structure of the urban elderly consists of special trust,general trust,and general trust.Except for the high level of special trust,the level of general trust and general trust is low.Special trust is greatly affected by the trust relationship of lineal kin,general trust is greatly affected by the trust relationship of ordinary friends,and general trust is greatly affected by the trust relationship of community workers.In addition,the life satisfaction of the elderly in the city as a whole is at the upper middle level,and there is a positive correlation between social trust and life satisfaction.Special trust and general trust are significantly positively correlated with urban elderly satisfaction.The positive correlation between general trust and life satisfaction is not significant.Based on the results of this study,from the perspective of macro-government,meso-community and micro-family,this study suggested that all sectors of society should pay attention to the issues of social trust and life satisfaction of urban elderly,work together to build a harmonious and honest social environment,and improve the status of social trust of the elderly in the city to increase their life satisfaction.
