No matter in eastern or western countries,private education is an indispensable part of a country’s education.Since China’s reform and opening up,private education has played a positive role in increasing educational opportunities,realizing educational equity and promoting the diversified development of education.However,the current development of private higher education is still insufficient,and the quality of private higher education has become the focus of social attention.The learning level of college students determines and presents the education quality of colleges and universities to some extent,and student engagement affects its learning level.Therefore,it is urgent to improve the learning input level of students in private colleges and universities,tracing its source.Therefore,it is of great significance to study the characteristics and current situation of private university undergraduates’ student engagement and explore the influence mechanism of student engagement on learning harvest for promoting private university undergraduates’ learning harvest and improving the education quality of private university.By analyzing existing literature,this paper based on the existing research,the introduction of learning concept,mainly selects the undergraduates from G University,C University,Y University and J University in Sichuan Province as the research object,from learning into five indicators the private colleges in Sichuan province undergraduates’ learning and learning harvest present situation investigation and study.Through the field questionnaire and interview survey of four private colleges and universities in Sichuan Province,a large number of data and materials are mastered,which lay a solid foundation for the empirical research.Using SPSS 22.0 to analyze the questionnaire data,this paper analyzes the differences in demographic variables of undergraduate learning input and learning gain,the current situation of undergraduate learning input and learning gain,and the influence of learning input on learning gains.Based on the interview content and the theory of student engagement and constructivism learning theory,this study draws the following conclusions: the academic challenge degree and learning gain of undergraduates in private colleges and universities are in the middle level;The degree of academic challenge is in the middle level,and the amount of reading and writing of students is low.The level of active cooperative learning is in the middle level,and the initiative and cooperation of learning are poor.The student-teacher interaction is in the middle level,and the interaction content between teachers and students is limited and slightly passive.The degree of educational experience is at the middle level,the degree of participation in academic lectures is not high,and the degree of participation in overseas study is low.The campus environment support is at the middle level,the interpersonal relationship support of undergraduates is relatively general,and the school hardware facilities can meet the needs of students.The learning harvest is at the middle level,and the undergraduate students need further improvement in all aspects.The learning engagement of undergraduates in private colleges and universities and its various dimensions positively affect students’ learning gains.Based on the above research conclusions,from the five dimensions of private university undergraduates’ student engagement,from the trinity of school,teacher and student to improve students’ learning engagement put forward five aspects of suggestions: To appropriately improve the degree of academic challenges of undergraduates in private colleges and universities,to achieve a reasonable "burden increase";Strengthen the initiative of cooperative learning,improve students’ learning cooperation and initiative;Strengthen the effective interaction between teachers and students,build a harmonious,healthy,good relationship between teachers and students;Facilitate participation in extracurricular activities to enrich students’ educational experience;Optimize the campus hardware and software support to improve the convenience and satisfaction of students’ learning.
