| In the context of China’s promotion of foreign cultural exchanges, enhancement of cultural soft power, smooth implementation of the "Belt and Road" initiative, and the advent of the digital era,Tai Chi,as a representative of traditional Chinese sports, has the important responsibility of "going abroad" of Chinese traditional culture and promoting friendly exchanges between China and foreign countries. In order to understand the teaching situation of Tai Chi in overseas universities and Confucius Institutes and to promote its better development in the digital teaching environment, this paper takes the Confucius Institute of Miami University in Ohio as the object of investigation, and explores the application of hybrid teaching of Tai Chi in Confucius Institutes based on Canvas system,in order to enrich the theory of Tai Chi teaching and improve the teaching effect of Tai Chi in overseas. In this paper,we collected literature and information on various aspects by using the literature method. The experimental method was used to compare the teaching methods of the experimental class with those of the control class. The questionnaire method was used to investigate the change of interest in learning Tai Chi between the experimental class and the control class and the feedback evaluation of the experimental class on the hybrid teaching design of Tai Chi in Confucius Institute based on the Canvas system.Using the interview method to obtain the real feelings and evaluation feedback evaluations of the teachers related to the teaching experiment and some students in the two classes. The following study results were obtained.1.After a 12-week teaching experiment, the Canvas-based Confucius Institute Tai Chi hybrid teaching showed significant differences in both technical movements and theoretical knowledge of Tai Chi compared with the control class using the traditional Tai Chi teaching method(p < 0.05).2.In terms of interest in learning, the scores of the control class did not show significant changes in five dimensions before and after the experiment(p > 0.05),while the experimental class showed significant changes in all five dimensions(p < 0.05);and the scores of the experimental class and the control class were also significantly different in all five dimensions after the experiment(p < 0.05).3.Regarding the feedback evaluation of the experimental class on the instructional design, the number of students who chose "totally disagree" and "disagree" for the five questions in the questionnaire was zero, and the number of "neutral" was also small, basically focusing on the two items of "agree" and "totally agree".Based on the above findings, the following research conclusions were obtained.1.Both the hybrid teaching of Tai Chi based on the Canvas system and the traditional teaching method of Confucius Institute is effective in improving students’ learning performance in Tai Chi,but the former has a better effect in improving students’ technical movements and theoretical knowledge compared with the traditional teaching method.2.Both the Canvas-based Confucius Institute Tai Chi hybrid teaching and the traditional teaching method have a positive effect on the development of students’ interest in Tai Chi learning, proving that both are effective in this regard, but the former has a more obvious effect.3.The students in the experimental class showed high satisfaction with the overall teaching design and other aspects of the Canvas-based Confucius Institute Tai Chi hybrid teaching design, but there is still room for continued improvement and enhancement, especially in terms of the number and difficulty of weekly teaching tasks and the recording and editing of teaching videos. |
