A lot of evidence shows that the learning process is a combination ofintellectual and non-intellectual elements, which non-intellectual elements play a veryimportant part. Interest is one of the important non-intellectual elements that affect theintellectual activity, it has the function of initiation, direction, motivation andstrengthen. Great interests can initiate the student's learning motivation, and help thestudents to try their best to learn. It is also the foundation to improve teaching quality,as well as the guarantee to develop the qualified personnel.Recent years, the quality of the vocational students' is becoming poorer andpoorer. The vocational school students are lack of learning interest and motivation,some of them are even bored of learning. The control to the students is becomingmore and more difficult. Teachers of vocational school often complain that today'sstudents are hard to control. All these disadvantages have formed great obstacles toachieve high teaching quality in vocational school. Yet having been a teacher invocational school for about 20 years, the author find that not all the students invocational school are poor in their learning foundation, in fact, some of them are evenquite excellent when they are in middle school. Most of them have a good desire toimprove their learning ability and to find a good job in future. During the teachingresearch, according to the questionnaire and interview, the author found that the mainfactors to result in their poor learning achievement are as following: poor knowledgefoundation, low need level, unsteady concentration, bad learning habit and so on. Sothe author think that the urgent thing for the teachers to do is to cultivate the students'learning interests and motivation, which based on the characteristic of the vocationalschool students and the proper learning strategies, to help them know what to learnand how to learn, but not just know to learnt what.According to the theoretical knowledge about the learning interests andpsychology, the author made some exploration and study on how to cultivate thestudents' learning interests and how to improve the students' autonomous learningability. All the researches are based on the theoretical knowledge about the interests,of course, plentiful teaching experience from the author and her workmates are alsoincluded in the paper. That is try to make the learning material true to the studentsand to the nature, initiate the students' learning interests;help the students setappropriate learning goals, try to involve the students to take part in the learningactivity, help the students to experience the pleasure of success and use themultimedia to make the classroom more active and interesting.After about a year of study and research, the students' learning interests andlearning ability are found to improve gradually, and their learning scores are alsofound to be higher than before, then a conclusion is drawn like this: the wholeresearch is successful and a ideal outcome has been achieved.The study will give a great help in improving the students' learning interests andthe overall teaching quality in vocational school. Also, a contribution can beintroduced into chemical teaching fields in vocational school.
