Research background: The ability to change direction is one of the important components of the special quality of football players. In order to improve the ability of young athletes to change direction, different professionals in the field of youth football training in China are also making various attempts. In practice, most special coaches believe that players can acquire the ability of changing direction needed by special practice, especially in small field matches.Fitness professionals,on the other hand, believe that additional resistance exercises are needed to further improve a player’s ability to change direction. In addition, many young coaches, especially those at a younger age,are always controversial about whether they can carry out resistance training for young players, and there are also problems such as single and unreasonable design of resistance training programs. Therefore, the author of this study hopes to study the difference between resistance training and small-field competition method in improving players’ ability of changing direction by implementing resistance training to improve their ability of changing direction.Purpose: To investigate the influence of lower extremity resistance training on the directional change ability of U15 youth football players, and to compare and analyze the difference of the influence of lower extremity resistance training and small field resistance training on the improvement of the directional change ability of young football players,so as to provide reference for the reasonable arrangement of training methods for young football players.Method: A total of 20 male football players from Dalian No.44 Middle School were divided into two groups: the lower limb resistance training group(10 players)and the small field resistance training group(10 players). The two groups received differe nt intervention programs at the last 30 minutes of the regular training class every Monday,Wednesday and Friday for eight weeks, and the total intervention time was 660 minutes.Except for the different contents of intervention, the rest of the training was organized and carried out in a unified way to keep the content completely consistent. The independent sample t-test,the variance of two-factor repeated measurement, the simple effect test and the paired sample t-test were used to compare the differences between the two training methods in improving the ability of youth football players to change direction.Result: There was no significant difference between the two groups(P > 0.05),but the lower extremity resistance training group had a higher improvement rate and a larger effect size.PRO test results showed that the lower extremity resistance training group was improved with a very significant difference(P < 0.01),while the small field resistance training group had no change with no significant difference(P > 0.05).Il inois test scores were improved in both groups, and there was no significa nt difference between the two groups(P > 0.05).However,the lower limb resistance training group had a higher improvement rate and a larger effect size. Conclusion: The lower limb resistance training and small field competition as the intervention means of the two experimental groups, the ability of directional change has a certain degree of improvement, but the lower limb resistance training group members of the improvement range is higher. Therefore,it is concluded that lower limb resistance training may be more beneficial to improve the directional change ability of U15 teenage male football players than small field resistance training.
