In the context of the "Internet +" era,reputation has increasingly become a key factor in the competition and evaluation of universities.The social reputation of colleges and universities refers to the social influence that colleges and universities have formed in the course of long-term school-running practice in terms of comprehensive strength,talent training,and service to the society.Under the background of globalization,the reputation of universities has been paid more and more attention by major rankings at home and abroad,and reputation evaluation has become one of the important dimensions of university evaluation.After combing the existing research on the social reputation of colleges and universities,it is found that in the existing research,the research on the social reputation of colleges and universities is not perfect.In the evaluation of college social reputation,the evaluation subject is relatively single,and most of them are qualitative evaluations.From the perspective of the public,based on existing research and multi-source data,this study takes the social reputation of universities as the evaluation object,constructs a set of index system to quantify the social reputation of universities and applies it to practice,and explores public undergraduates in my country.The current status and characteristics of the social reputation of universities.In the process of constructing the evaluation index system of university social reputation,this study sorts out the formation mechanism of university social reputation from existing research."University shaping-media communication-public cognition" constitutes the basic communication mode of university social reputation.The public is the cognizant and evaluator of the image of the university.The formation of the university is the basis for the social reputation of the university.The media transmission is an important way to form the social reputation of the university.Overall understanding of colleges and universities.In this process,the public will also provide feedback to universities.With the help of acculturation analysis theory,this study extracts the elements and interrelationships involved in the above-mentioned reputation formation process to provide theoretical support for constructing the social reputation evaluation index system of colleges and universities.In the process of applying the social index system of colleges and universities,based on the existing index system and data,this study evaluated the social reputation of public undergraduate colleges and universities in my country.The evaluation results show that the level of the university and the location of the university have an important influence on the social reputation of the university,and public feedback plays a crucial role in the formation of the social reputation of the university.
