Critical Discourse Analysis Of Parent-Child Conflict News

With the progress of society,people’s attention to parent-child relationship has been continuously improved.At the same time,parent-child conflict has also attracted great attention in the society.Related news reports frequently appear,and the cases of offspring killing their relatives hurt people’s nerves.Compared with the traditional society,the parent-child relationship in China has undergone great changes.What are the changes and characteristics of the news reflecting the parent-child relationship and parent-child conflict? Is there discourse inequality in the news reflecting the parent-child conflict?Fairclough’s theory of discourse analysis combines discourse with society.While analyzing discourse,Fairclough studies the social matrix of discourse and reflects on the production,distribution and consumption of discourse.Based on fair krogh three-dimensional analysis model for micro subject to critical discourse analysis of parent-child conflicts in text analysis,discourse practice,social practice three dimensions for support,the parent-child conflict news as the research object,in 2000-2020,selected the 19 social influence and high attention,strong typicality of parent-child conflict,from the event,the analysis of different media,different time,different events of news discourse.Through the analysis of the news discourse of parent-child conflict,it is found that the news discourse of parent-child conflict from 2000 to 2020 has obvious stage characteristics:at the text level,the parents change from the traditional image of unconditional respect to the image of being questioned and accountable,and the children change from the cruel and heartless image to the image of suffering.The attribution of responsibility for parent-child conflict has changed from the offspring to the parent,the news theme has changed from the offspring’s evil deeds to questioning the original family,and the news genre has changed from short message to long report.On the level of discourse practice,the discourse order changes from the discourse power of parents to the discourse power of children,and the discourse sequence also changes accordingly.In terms of social practice,the disintegration of traditional family concepts,the formation of new family structures,the development of Internet platforms,and the professional qualities of media all affect the changes of parent-child conflict news discourse.According to the characteristics of the reported discourse,this paper divides the parent-child conflict news discourse into the following stages :(1)the traditional stage from 2000 to 2007,in which the parents dominate the discourse power;(2)In the changing stage from 2007 to 2010,the discourse power gradually shifted to the offspring;(3)In the new stage from 2010 to 2020,the offspring will dominate the discourse power;(4)In the remolding stage of 2020-2021,discourse features have changed.In the parent-child conflict news from 2000 to 2020,the media are mainly represented by the following problems: the media are more likely to choose "bad things" when choosing parent-child news;"Reporting for the sake of reporting",the educational function of news is absent;The objectivity and comprehensiveness of the report are insufficient and the tendency to cater is too strong.The inequality of parent-child conflict news discourse is not conducive to the healthy growth of teenagers,is not conducive to the construction of a healthy parent-child relationship,and even affects the normal judicial work.In order to improve the unequal phenomenon of the discourse power of parent-child conflict news,this paper puts forward the following suggestions from the perspective of media: improve the reporting professionalism and give play to the educational function;To set up reasonable topics,improve the level of planning and reporting,and give full play to positive guidance;Strike a balance between objectivity and tendentiousness to report comprehensively.
