Research On The Influencing Factors Of Youth’s Life Satisfaction From The Perspective Of Social Quality Theory

Young people are at the beginning stage of their lives.In a highly competitive society,they are faced with realistic pressures in terms of graduation,job hunting,innovation and entrepreneurship,social integration,marriage and dating,support for the elderly,and children’s education.Paying attention to what young people think,worry and expect,create good development conditions for young people,meet their development needs,and are closely related to youth life satisfaction.Based on the perspective of social quality theory,this paper analyzes the influencing factors of youth’s life satisfaction and obtains policy enlightenment.Through literature review,the understanding and measurement of life satisfaction and the analysis perspectives of influencing factors are combed;the concept of social quality,the division of different dimensions and measurement indicators,and the theoretical application are grasped,combined with demand theory,life course theory and social mentality Theory to explain the influencing factors of youth’s life satisfaction.Based on the theoretical analysis framework of social quality,the impact of different factors on youth life satisfaction in the four dimensions of social economic security,social cohesion,social tolerance and social empowerment.Using the data from the 2018 World Values China Regional Survey,a sample of youth was selected,and descriptive statistical methods were used to describe the basic social demographic attributes of the sample,the current situation of youth life satisfaction,the distribution characteristics of the respective variables and the control variables.The ordinal logistic regression analysis method was used to verify the relationship between the independent variable and the dependent variable,and to further analyze the gender difference of the influencing factors.The research results show that in the dimensions of social and economic security,family income and expenditure,family income level,and environmental safety have a significant positive impact on youth’s life satisfaction,and employment instability has a significant negative impact on youth’s life satisfaction.Institutional trust and social belonging in the social cohesion dimension have a significant positive impact on youth life satisfaction,while factors in the social tolerance and social empowerment dimensions have no significant impact on youth life satisfaction.In addition,through the analysis of gender differences,it is found that family income and expenditure status and environmental safety have significant effects on female youth and male youth,while family income levels and employment stability only have a significant effect on female youth’s life satisfaction.Institutional trust has a significant impact on the life satisfaction of male youth and female youth,while the sense of social belonging only has a significant impact on the life satisfaction of female youth.Social tolerance has a significant impact on female youth’s life satisfaction but not a significant impact on male youth’s life satisfaction.The factors in the social empowerment dimension have no significant impact on the life satisfaction of female youth and male youth.Moreover,among the control variables,marital status and health status have a positive effect on youth’s life satisfaction.According to the analysis results,the quality of social development should be improved in terms of employment security,social trust,and promotion of youth social participation,combined with gender differences,and targeted and effective improvement of youth life satisfaction.
