Abstract/Summary:
The "3-6 Years Old Children’s Learning and Development Guide" points out that children’s scientific learning is a process of trying to discover the similarities,differences and connections between things while exploring specific things and solving practical problems.When designing and implementing scientific inquiry activities in kindergarten,attention should be paid to discovering children’s interest and cultivating their consciousness and ability of good inquiry.With the exploration of scientific concepts as the core,using the scientific concepts explored to solve practical problems or solve problems encountered in scientific learning is an extension of scientific inquiry activities in practice.STEM education emphasizes the effective combination of science,technology,engineering and mathematics.It focuses on cultivating children’s interdisciplinary thinking and comprehensive problem-solving ability.STEM education pays attention to children’s hands-on practice,inquiry spirit and fully cultivating children’s scientific literacy.STEM education can provide new ideas for the integration of scientific inquiry activities in kindergartens.This research adopts action research method as research methods.On the basis of STEM education,scientific inquiry activities,activity design and implementation related theories,the action research took the "slope" series of activities as the starting point,and carried out three rounds of scientific inquiry activities.They are "slope design","slope deceleration",and "power of water flow".Besides this,it carries out timely reflection and improvement after each activity,preparing for the next event.Through continuous adjustment and optimization of activities,the aim is to explore ways to further promote the development of scientific inquiry activities in kindergartens from the perspective of STEM education.The research found that after series of activities,children make improvement in scientific concept cognition,ability of scientific inquiry and scientific spirit quality.Teachers have a stronger understanding and identification with STEM education,and their STEM literacy have improved.The result of research shows that the core characteristics of STEM education are the action basis for the design and implementation of scientific inquiry activities in kindergartens under STEM education;The 5E teaching model is an effective path for the design and implementation of scientific inquiry activities in kindergarten under STEM education;Teachers’ STEM literacy is the guarantee for the design and implementation of kindergarten scientific inquiry activities under STEM education.In response to the research results,this study puts forward the suggests from three aspects:choose the appropriate scientific activity theme content;grasp the core characteristics of STEM education;Improve teachers’ ability to design and implement STEM educational activities.
