| Formative feedback is an important link throughout the teaching process.It is also an important means to improve learning motivation and performance,and it is a powerful tool to test the effectiveness of teaching.With the rise of intelligent education,the use of intelligent resources and intelligent learning environment to construct a new teaching model has become one of the challenges facing contemporary teachers.In addition,the Chatbot,as a virtual assistant that simulates human dialogue,assists learning in the form of question and answer interaction,can realize a personalized learning method,and has a non-negligible role in promoting students’ learning interest,learning motivation and learning performance.Literature studies have found that many scholars focused more on traditional teacher-centered feedback research.The main problems that emerged are the lack of timely feedback and the single form of feedback,which led to the lack of effective feedback.Therefore,based on existing research,this research aims to improve students’ academic performance,promote students’ learning motivation and reduce cognitive load,and make full use of the characteristics of Chatbot to develop an intelligent formative feedback tool that can effectively promote teaching and learning.This study explored the influence of chatbot-based formative feedback tool on college students’ learning motivation,cognitive load and learning performance.The study adopts the time series research design of the experimental group and the control group.Two first-year classes(215 people in total)of a university in Wuhan,Hubei Province are regards as the participants.They are divided into an experimental group that receives feedback from Chatbot and a control group that receives feedback from teacher.The intrinsic motivation,cognitive load and performance of the students were investigated before and after the three experiments.The data changes of the two groups of students before and after each intervention were analyzed by an independent sample T test.The results show that the Chatbot based formative feedback promotes the mastery of partial application knowledge,but the students more accept chatbot as a feedback tool for theoretical knowledge.The chatbot based formative feedback tool has a significant effect in reducing learning pressure and cognitive load,but only promotes the students’ initial perceived choice level.In addition,students have the required sense of selfefficacy in the ability and skills required to manage and understand the learning content in order to achieve the expected results in the two feedback environments. |
