When China’s economic level has achieved rapid development,it has produced a large gap among regions. There are many scholars from the perspective of regional distribution of human capital to study the reasons, and it is generally believed that human capital is the core factor affecting regional economy.Regions with high level of human capital will form a virtuous cycle: high level of human capital—high level of economic development—advantage of human capital investment—higher level of human capital—higher level of economic development, but regions with low level of human capital do not have such a cycle. As time passes, the gap of human capital level between regions increases, which is not conducive to the balanced development of regional economy.Based on the above logic, this paper discusses the regional distribution differences of human capital in China from the perspectives of disequilibrium and polarization, and constructs the GWR model of human capital to analyze the spatial variation of influencing factors of human capital. The research results of this paper are as follows :(1)There are disparities in human capital levels among provinces, between urban and rural areas, and among the three regions.(2)The degree of disequilibrium between urban and rural areas and within urban and rural areas is decreasing, and the degree of disequilibrium within rural areas is more serious than that within urban areas. The degree of human capital disequilibrium between the eastern and western regions as well as the eastern and western regions is decreasing, and the central region is more balanced than the eastern and western regions.(3)The degree of human capital polarization at the urban and rural level and the three zones is on the rise.(4)The kernel density curve shows that the gap between the human capital levels in urban and rural areas and in the eastern and western regions is widening year by year, and there is a multi-polar differentiation phenomenon in the urban and rural areas and the eastern part, while the central and western parts show a unipolar distribution.(5)Economic development, medical and health level are positively correlated with human capital;Education investment level has negative influence on human capital, but the influence degree is small. The influence of industrial structure level on human capital began to present a positive influence in most provinces.
