| In July 2020,the General Office of the State Council issued a notice of opinions supporting multi-channel flexible employment, indicating that my country’s emphasis on informal employment groups is increasing day by day.On the one hand,we must actively guide the formalization of informal employment relations and protect the basic rights and interests of informal employees. On the other hand,we must attach importance to the importance of informal employment in broadening employment channels and alleviating employment pressure, and guide the healthy development of informal employment. For the employed, the issue of whether to get employed is the social security issue. The segmentation of the labor market caused by the difference in the needs of the employer makes the informal employees unable to have the same basic labor such as social security as the regular employees.Rights.Whether the Internet has affected workers’ choice of informal employment, and what kind of impact it has caused, will provide relevant policy recommendations for the country to effectively regulate informal employment groups and protect their labor rights.Affected by the outbreak of the new crown epidemic in the first half of 2020,my country’s employment pressure has increased, and online recruitment and work platforms based on Internet technology have shined in the new employment situation, and network applications have effectively helped enterprises to stabilize their jobs.At the same time, with the gradual acceleration of the development of the mobile terminal Internet,a large number of flexible jobs derived from the Internet industry have also effectively eased the pressure on my country’s labor market. The Internet has a dual role in promoting employment.Path1: The development of the Internet has created a large number of new jobs, including a large number of informal jobs;Path 2: As an information collection tool, the Internet can effectively broaden employment information channels and revitalize employment market. However, there is currently a lack of research on the problem of its impact on the structural changes of the labor force between sectors in the labor market. This paper conducts an empirical analysis based on the CFPS microdatabase, and explores the following two questions:(1)Does Internet use have an impact on informal employment? What is the magnitude and direction of its impact?(2)Does the Internet have different effects on informal employment for different Internet applications and Internet users with different individual characteristics? The main research content of this article is as follows: firstly, through combing relevant literature, reading government reports and policy documents to understand the development and research status of my country’s Internet use and informal employment, and forming a literature review. Then,it analyzes the influence principle based on economic theories such as poverty employment theory and institutional marginal theory, and then uses the economic model tool—the indifference curve to analyze the influence mechanism of Internet popularization on informal employment. Then, referring to the relevant statistical reports on the development of the Internet in my country and the official website of the National Bureau of Statistics, the development status of my country’s Internet penetration and the estimated scale of informal employment are introduced from a macro level. Finally, using the 2016 and 2018 CFPS microdatabases, the Probit nonlinear binary selection model was established, and the PSM method was used to test the robustness of the model. On the basis of benchmark regression,it analyzes the difference in the size of the impact of the Internet on informal employment by different Internet users and different characteristics of Internet users, with heterogeneity analysis as an empirical supplement.According to research: Internet use has a significant negative influence on informal employment. This shows that Internet users are more inclined to choose formal employment, and vigorously promoting the popularization of the Internet can effectively improve the quality of employment for workers. After conducting an in-depth discussion of heterogeneity analysis,it is found that the frequency of use of different Internet uses will also affect the employment choices of workers. The higher the frequency of workers using the Internet for business activities, the lower the probability of choosing informal employment, and this impact The impact on workers who frequently use the Internet for entertainment activities is relatively small. The impact of the Internet on informal employment also varies with the individual characteristics of workers. After a specific analysis, the Internet guides highly educated workers,non-agricultural hukou workers, and unmarried workers to choose informal employment with a lower probability, and this heterogeneous difference is also different between different genders. This shows that in the informal market, the threshold for low-educated people is lower, but household registration discrimination and gender discrimination still exist. Finally, empirical evidence proves that the more people rely on the Internet as an information channel, the lower the probability of choosing informal employment. This shows that the Internet has a significant negative effect on path two of the two influence paths of informal employment, and the magnitude of the effect exceeds the positive effect of path one.Through theoretical analysis and empirical research, the last part of the thesis puts forward several policy recommendations to promote the healthy and standardized development of the employment market. |
