A Meta-analysis Of The Relationship Between Firm Social Capital And Technological Innovation Performance

The development of manufacturing industry is characterized by rapid change and systematic technology.In order to survive,enterprises must constantly carry out technological innovation.The systematization of technology and the limitation of resources make it difficult for any manufacturing enterprise to complete a technological innovation independently.If it can acquire new ideas,identify new knowledge and integrate complementary resources from social connections,it is of great significance to maintain the continuous technological innovation performance of the enterprise.On the other hand,when time and resources are limited,the high costs of maintaining social capital outweigh the benefits.In addition,the analysis of social capital theory also needs to combine certain sample scenarios and performance evaluation criteria.Then,what is the impact of social capital on the technological innovation performance of manufacturing industry? Will the relationship between the two change under the adjustment of different variables? In the face of the inconsistent conclusions,the meta-analysis method was used to obtain the overall effect,and the causes of the inconsistent effect among studies were analyzed.In this study reviews the social capital theory,technological innovation theory,on the basis of manufacturing industry as the research object,to build the relationship between social capital influence on technology innovation performance model,in which social capital can be divided into structure,the relationship between relationship between government and enterprises,cognitive and four dimensions,economic development level,industry type,intermediary variables are three scenarios to adjust,Technological innovation performance measurement method and technological innovation performance measurement dimension are two method moderating variables.This study attempts to use meta-analysis method to integrate the existing controversial empirical studies.On the basis of ensuring that the valid literatures included in the meta-analysis do not have publication bias,this study conducts a holistic analysis of the results of the impact of social capital on the performance of manufacturing technology innovation,and tests the variables regulating the relationship between the two.Finally,the countermeasures and suggestions to improve the performance of manufacturing technology innovation are put forward.The results of meta-analysis show that with the accumulation of social capital,the technological innovation performance of manufacturing enterprises can be effectively improved,among which,the friendly exchanges with the government also significantly promote the technological innovation performance of manufacturing enterprises.In addition,the impact of social capital on technological innovation performance is moderated by situational factors.In the economic development scenario,with the increase of social capital,the performance of manufacturing technology innovation in emerging economies is higher.Under the industrial type scenario,with the increase of social capital,the performance level of technological innovation in high-tech industries is higher.Finally,the influence of social capital on technological innovation performance is moderated by methodological factors.Among them,social capital has a greater impact on the subjective evaluation of technological innovation performance under the measurement method of technological innovation performance.Under the measurement dimension of technological innovation performance,social capital has a greater impact on technological innovation efficiency performance.According to the results of this study,under the background of manufacturing enterprises,especially in emerging economies and high and new technology industry under the background of manufacturing enterprises can build a wide range of social contacts,culture and society of mutual trust between network members,participate in industry in the future vision plan and establish contact with the local government behavior such as to improve the performance of technological innovation.In addition,according to different innovation stages,manufacturing managers should pay attention to the selection of reasonable measurement methods and dimensions of technological innovation performance,so as to reflect the real effect of social capital on enterprise technological innovation performance.
