Left-behind children are a special group formed by the social and economic transformation,and their physical and mental health development has attracted much attention.Based on the internal differences of left-behind children,this study explores the status of left-behind junior high school students’ campus bullying,and examines the relationship between school connections and campus bullying(bullying\being bullied).The quantitative study used the General Information Questionnaire of Left-behind Children,Olweus Child Bullying/Bullying Questionnaire(Secondary Version)and School Connection Scale to conduct a questionnaire survey of 1499 junior high school students in a county in Hunan Province.Among them,1013 were left-behind junior high school students.There are 486 left-behind junior high school students.The qualitative research conducted semi-structured interviews with 11 left-behind junior high school students.The results showed:(1)The bullying rate and bullying rate of left-behind junior high school students were significantly higher than that of non-left-behind junior high school students,and the level of school connection was significantly lower than that of non-left-behind junior high school students;(2)Among left-behind junior high school students,boys are more likely to be involved in campus bullying than girls;rural left-behind junior high school students are more likely to bully others than county-level left-behind junior high school students;junior students and students from poor families are more likely to be bullied;(3)Left-behind junior high school students,class leaders,and boarding students in the county have a more positive attitude toward campus bullying intervention than rural left-behind junior high school students,non-class leaders,and day students;(4)The incidence of verbal bullying among left-behind junior high school students was significantly higher than that of relationship bullying and physical bullying;(5)The school connection level of left-behind junior high school students and class cadres in the county is significantly higher than that of rural left-behind junior high school students and non-class cadres;(6)Based on the findings of internal differences among left-behind children,the incidence of bullying among pre-school(before 6 years old)left-behind junior high school students is significantly lower than that of school-age(after 6years old)left-behind;the level of school connection for pre-school left-behind children is significantly lower than that of school age Long-term left-behind children;the shorter the left-behind junior high school students stay behind,the higher the school connection level;(7)School connection has a significant negative predictive effect on campus bullying(bullying\being bullied).Interviews with 11 left-behind junior high school students indicate that good school connection is one of the prevention and protection factors to reduce the occurrence of campus bullying.The results of the research reveal that the status of campus bullying of left-behind junior high school students is severe;the good school connection of left-behind junior high school students is of positive significance for preventing campus bullying.
