| With the development of network technology, social exclusion has further expanded into cyberspace, which is called "cyberostracism".Based on the need-threat time model for realistic social exclusion, the multi-motivation model, the electronic propinquity theory based on the network interaction theory, and the deindividualization theory, this study focused on the network social environment and explored the influence of cyberostracism on individual online prosocial behaviors and online aggressive behavior, and explored the role of basic psychological needs.Study 1: The questionnaire method was used to explore the effects of long-term cyber-ostracism experience of college student groups on their online pro-social and online aggressive behaviors and the role of basic psychological needs in them.Via convenience sampling,793 college students were investigated by the Cyber-ostracism Questionnaire,Internet Altruistic Bebavior Scale,Online Aggressive Behavior Scale, and Brief Basic Psychologial Needs Satisfaction. The research results showed that:(1)The long-term cyber-ostracism experience of boys was significantly higher than that of girls(p<0.001);the frequency of online aggressive behaviors of boys was significantly higher than that of girls(p<0.001);There were no significant gender differences on online prosocial behavior and basic psychological needs.(2)Long-term cyber-ostracism can effectively and positively predict online pro-social behaviors and cyber aggression behaviors of college students(p<0.001);(3)College students’ basic psychological needs satisfaction played a partial mediation role between the long-term cyber-ostracism,online prosocial behaviors and online aggressive behaviors.Study 2:An experimental approach was adopted to explore the effects of immediate cyber-ostracism experience of college student groups on their tendency to engage in online pro-social and online aggressive behaviors and the role of basic psychological needs in it.Using the Cyberball Paradigm, the college students were randomly divided into the online social exclusion group and the online social inclusion group. At the same time, the Online Repost Paradigm and the Chili Sauce Paradigm were used as the dependent variables, the manipulation of online prosocial behavior and online aggressive behavior. The results of experiment 1 showed that:(1)The online pro-social behavior tendency of college students in the cyber-ostracism group was significantly lower than that in the online social inclusion group(p<0.001);(2)The immediate cyber-ostracism experience of college students significantly reduced the satisfaction of their basic psychological needs(p<0.001);(3)College students’ immediate cyber-ostracism experience can effectively negatively predict their online prosocial behavior(p<0.001);(4)The basic psychological needs did not play a mediation role between different between college students’ immediate cyber-ostracism experience and their online prosocial behavior. The results of experiment 2 showed that:(1)College students in the cyber-ostracism group had a significantly higher tendency to online aggression behavior than the online social inclusion group(p<0.001);(2)The immediate cyber-ostracism experience significantly reduced the satisfaction of their basic psychological needs(p<0.001);(3)College students’ immediate cyber-ostracism experience can effectively and positively predict their online aggression behavior(p<0.001);(4)The basic psychological needs played a complete mediation role between college students’ immediate cyber-ostracism experience and online aggressive behavior.Conclusion:(1)The behavioral influence of cyber-ostracism on individuals is not always negative;(2)The influence of cyber-ostracism on individual behavioral tendency has a time effect;(3)The basic psychological needs play different roles in different time periods in the influence of cyber-ostracism on individual behavior. |
