| Online prosocial behavior refers to the behavior that helpers voluntarily help others in the network environment without taking their own interests as the goal. Both individual and environmental factors, such as moral identity, parenting style and personality traits, affect network prosocial behavior. This study explored the influence of different parenting styles on college students’ online prosocial behavior, using moral identity as the mediating variable and public self-consciousness as the moderating variable to investigate its internal mechanism. In this study,a total of 436 questionnaires were collected through on-site questionnaire distribution and online platform. The results showed that:(1)There were demographic differences in parenting style, moral identity, public self-consciousness and online altruistic behavior.Specifically,in the dimension of trust and encouragement of parenting style. In terms of the level of public self-consciousness,urban students were significantly higher than those from the countryside. There were significant differences in the dimension of public self-consciousness in grades. The level of public self-consciousness in freshmen was significantly higher than that in sophomores, juniors, seniors and above master’s degree. In terms of majors, students who majored in literature were significantly higher tha n those who majored in science and technology.(2)Parenting style(including the dimensions of "emotional warmth","trust and encouragement" and "neglect"),moral identity and public self-consciousness were significantly correlated with online prosocial behavior.Specifically, the dimensions of "emotional warmth" and "trust and encouragement" can positively predict the online prosocial behavior and moral identity. The degree of moral identity can positively predict the level of online prosocial behavior, and the interaction between moral identity and public self-consciousness can positively predict online prosocial behavior.(3)Moral identity completely mediated the relationship between parenting style(including "emotional warmth","trust encouragement" an d "neglect" dimensions)and online prosocial behavior. When the parenting style was "emotional warmth",the mediating effect of moral identity was 50%;when the parenting style was "trust encouragement",the mediating effect of moral identity was 50.86%;when the parenting style was "neglect",the mediating effect of moral identity was 9%.(4)Public self-consciousness moderated the relationship between moral identity and online prosocial behavior.Compared with low level of public self-consciousness,when the level of public self-consciousness was higher, the effect of moral identity on online prosocial behavior was stronger.. |
