| As a permanent theme of economic research, poverty has been the focus of attention of all countries in the world.By the end of 2020,China had completely eliminated absolute poverty and won the battle against poverty as scheduled, lifting all poverty-stricken counties and rural residents out of poverty, and solving the problem of regional poverty as a whole. However, the elimination of absolute poverty does not mean that China’s poverty problem is completely solved. With the continuous development of China’s social economy, the nature of poverty has changed correspondingly, and the poverty problem is manifested in the form of relative poverty. Therefore,it is extremely urgent to discuss the establishment of a long-term mechanism to solve relative poverty. Therefore, this paper carries out research based on the relative poverty of farmers. In relevant research,it is found that the most fundamental way to alleviate the relative poverty is to improve the endogenous development motivation of farmers and enhance human capital. However,as the core dimension of human capital, educational human capital plays a key role in alleviating the relative poverty of farmers. In view of this, this paper takes educational human capital as the entry point to systematically study the impact of educational human capital on the relative poverty of farmers. This paper follows the research ideas of problem proposition-theoretical analysis-empirical analysis-conclusion and suggestion.Based on the field survey data in Jilin Province, the research method of combining theoretical analysis and empirical analysis is adopted to provide theoretical and policy basis for alleviating relative poverty of farmers.Specifically, this paper establishes the direct and indirect mechanism of the impact of educational human capital on the relative poverty of farmers by sorting out relevant theories.Based on the multidimensional characteristics of relative poverty, entropy weight method was used to measure relative poverty index and analyze the degree of relative poverty in the study area. The influence of educational human capital on farmers’ relative poverty was empirically analyzed by using propensity score matching method, mediating effect model and Sobel test method. Finally, the conclusion of this paper is drawn and the policy suggestions are put forward to alleviate the relative poverty of farmers.According to theoretical elaboration and empirical analysis, the main conclusions of this paper are as follows: first, the relative poverty level in the study area is relatively deep, and the relative poor population has insufficient ability and limited opportunities to achieve comprehensive development;Second, educational human capital can significantly alleviate the relative poverty of farmers.Based on the different dimensions of relative poverty, the impact of educational human capital on the dimension of capacity development and development opportunity is greater than that of economic status and life security.Third,Educational human capital can alleviate the relative poverty of farmers through the channels of non-agricultural employment and cooperative participation.According to the research conclusions of this paper, the following three policy suggestions are made: firstly, the government should pay full attention to educational human capital in the selection of poverty alleviation policies;Secondly, the government should pay attention to the cultivation of farmers’ educational human capital and broaden the development path.;Thirdly, the government should make effective use of educational human capital to influence other influencing factors in the mechanism of relative poverty of farmers, such as non-agricultural employment and cooperative participation. |
