A Study On The Impact Of New Media Use On Social Interaction Among The Elderly ——A Case Of The Elderly In Zibo

In the Internet age,due to the deterioration of physical functions,the elderly’s scope of social interaction has been gradually reduced,and the frequency of social interaction has gradually decreased.Therefore,in the context of digitalization,it is of great significance to explore the impact of new media use on the social interaction of the elderly group for them to better integrate into society and realize their self-worth.Using the research methods of questionnaire survey and in-depth interviews,this paper takes the elderly population aged 60 and above in Zibo City as a research sample,and based on the analysis of the current situation of new media use,to explore the impact of new media use on the social interaction of elderly groups.Through investigation and research,the following conclusions are drawn: 1.The usage rate of new media represented by the Internet and smart phones has generally surpassed traditional media such as newspapers,magazines,and radio;2.It has an impact on the social interaction objects,social interaction scope,social interaction method,social interaction content,and social interaction motivation of the elderly group,and presents many new characteristics;3.The use of new media has a significant positive impact on the social interaction of the elderly group: enhance the communication within the family and promote the harmony of family relations;expand the scope of social interaction of the elderly group to meet the emotional needs,but if used improperly,it will also bring certain negative effects: excessive reliance on new media brings health crisis,thus reduce the willingness of the elderly to socialize online in the future;over-reliance on new media makes it easy for the elderly to ignore real social interactions;and the elderly have insufficient discrimination and are easily deceived in online social interaction.4.Propose improvement measures for the problems existing in the social interaction process of the elderly group: promote online social interaction for the elderly group;maintain a balance between online and offline interaction and strengthen the regulation and governance of false information,through these improvement measures for the elderly group to direct the use of new media provides reference,so that the elderly can better integrate into the society.
