The ultimate goal of educating children with moderate mental retardation is to better integrate into social life,return to mainstream social life,and become disabled but not useless.If children with moderate mental retardation are to adapt to social life,they need to have good self-care ability.Based on this,the related training of life self-care ability has become a fundamental goal of education for children with moderate mental retardation.However,due to their defects,they are often unable to master the relevant skills of life and self-care,thus hindering the further development of children with moderate mental retardation to a certain extent and causing much trouble to families and schools.The development of self-care ability has gradually become the focus of attention of teachers and parents in special education school.Therefore,effective educational intervention methods are needed to improve the self-care ability of children with moderate mental retardation.In this research,two children with moderate mental retardation who had problems in two self-care behaviors,namely dressing and washing face,were selected from the special education school.The case study method and positive behavior support research methods are combined to carry out corresponding educational interventions on the self-care ability of children with moderate mental retardation.Creating an encouraging and warm teaching environment,using step decomposition and positive reinforcement training methods,and carrying out various related class activities help children with moderate mental retardation improve their self-care ability in life.During this process,the observation and measurement of the children before and after the intervention were conducted,the performance and changes were recorded,and the intervention results were analyzed accordingly.The study results show that positive behavior support to intervene in the self-care ability of children with moderate mental retardation has a relatively noticeable effect.Analysis of the research results shows that through corresponding educational interventions,the positive emotional experience of children with moderate mental retardation can be increased,and their ability to deal with their daily life affairs,interpersonal communication ability,and psychological stress resistance can be developed to a certain extent.In addition,during the educational intervention of two children with moderate mental retardation,it was found that children’s awareness of self-care ability,parents’ attitudes towards the development of their self-care abilities,teachers’ attention to them,and teachers’ arrangement of educational and teaching activities all affect the development of their self-care abilities.Finally,combined with the study results,this study puts forward some educational suggestions on the application of positive behavior support in self-care ability. |
