In recent years, the incidence of breast cancer has been rising continuously, ranking first among common malignant tumors in women.Cancer treatment has always been a global problem.Although modern medical technology has improved the survival rate of breast cancer patients, the lack of understanding of cancer still makes people "turn pale at the mention of cancer".For cancer patients, cancer not only means that their lives and health are threatened, but also the social public's stigma on cancer. All these stigmas are projected on cancer patients, which makes cancer patients suffer great pressure.Women suffering from breast cancer not only have to face physical pain, but also have to endure social stigma and discrimination. As a result, breast cancer patients shrink from social interaction, lack self-identification,feel shame due to illness and have a sense of shame.Stigma is a kind of emotional experience that suffers from discriminatory attitudes or behaviors due to illness.Patients who have been experiencing stigma for a long time will suffer from negative emotions such as inferiority complex and depression, causing serious psychological distress.Breast cancer is a psychosomatic disease.Long-term psychological distress has adverse effects on disease treatment and physical rehabilitation. Therefore,it is of great significance to intervene in the stigma of breast cancer patients. This article focuses on the stigma of breast cancer patients.Taking the patients in the extra-mammary department of Yunnan Province C Hospital as an example,it uses professional social work intervention methods to reduce the stigma of breast cancer patients.Specifically, firstly, the questionnaire and interview method is used to assess whether breast cancer patients have stigma, and the causes of stigma of breast cancer patients are analyzed in combination with social construction theory. Then,it is analyzed whether external cancer stigma construction, actual discrimination behavior or self-negative internalization are causing the patients to experience stigma. Finally, rational emotional behavior therapy is used as the main intervention method, case work method is adopted, and the social support resources of breast cancer patients are combined to reduce the stigma of breast cancer patients. The study found that through the intervention of social work, the clients understood the construction process of cancer stigma, and the level of stigma decreased.
