Research Background: With the continuous progress of mobile network communication technology,watching short videos through mobile terminals has become part of people’s spare time,and sports short videos,as a category of short videos,have been developing rapidly.Sports short videos,because of their short duration and rich content,fit in with the lifestyle of college students,and are deeply concerned by the majority of student groups.The purpose of the study is to investigate the application of short sports videos and the current situation of college students’ attitudes towards physical exercise,and to analyse the relationship between different variables of short sports videos and college students’ attitudes towards physical exercise,so as to explore whether the use of short sports videos has an impact on college students’ attitudes towards physical exercise.The study also investigates whether the use of short sports videos has an impact on college students’ attitudes towards physical exercise,and finally makes suggestions.Significance of the study: To complement the theoretical aspects of new media short videos and college students’ attitudes towards sports.The study is an innovative approach to the factors of sports participation attitudes of university students by screening relevant indicators in the dimensions of sports short video use.This paper adds to the reform of physical education and teaching in colleges and universities,and helps to realize the combined online and offline mode of physical education in colleges and universities,so that new media short videos can be better integrated with traditional teaching methods and improve the enthusiasm of the majority of students to participate in physical exercise.Research method: The research method of this paper mainly adopts questionnaire survey method and mathematical and statistical method.The target of the questionnaire survey is college students in Anhui Province.The survey mainly included the use of sports short videos by college students with different demographic characteristics(usage channels,usage preferences,usage scenarios,usage effects),and college students’ attitudes towards physical exercise(behavioural attitudes,target attitudes,behavioural cognition,behavioural habits,behavioural intentions,emotional experiences,behavioural sense of control,subjective criteria).The mathematical and statistical method used was descriptive statistics when analyzing the current situation of sports short videos use and the current situation of college students’ physical exercise attitudes.The demographic characteristics of college students’ sports short videos,college students’ physical exercise attitudes and college students’ physical exercise attitudes were analyzed,and the factors affecting college students’ physical exercise were found by analyzing the relationship between the two variables of sports short videos and college students’ physical exercise attitudes.Research findings.In the survey on the use of short sports videos,the indicators with the highest and lowest concern were the access to use and preference for use,respectively.In the survey on college students’ attitudes towards physical activity,the highest and lowest concern indicators were behavioural attitudes and sense of behavioural control,respectively.In the analysis of the differences in the use of short sports videos among university students with different demographic characteristics(gender,grade,major and place of origin),the mean scores of usage(gender),usage effect(grade),usage,usage preference and usage scenario(major)were not significant,and the mean scores of male students,junior students,science majors and urban university students were the highest in all four dimensions.Different demographic characteristics(e.g.,access,usage preference,usage scenario)were not significant.In the analysis of the differences in the attitudes towards physical activity among college students with different demographic characteristics(gender,grade,major,and place of origin),the sense of behavioral control(grade)was not significant,and the emotional experience(major)was not significant.The mean value of male students was higher than that of female students,the mean score of science majors was the highest in all eight dimensions,and the mean score of urban college students was the highest.In the regression analysis,the secondary indicators of sports short video use had the following effects on the secondary indicators of physical exercise attitude respectively,and the usage route had no significant effect on the target attitude and behavioural habits.There was no significant effect of use scenario on target attitude and behavioral habits,no significant effect of use preference on behavioral attitude,emotional experience and subjective criteria,and no significant effect of secondary indicator use effect on behavioral attitude,emotional experience,sense of behavioral control and subjective criteria.Conclusion: As a group of young people who are more active in using new media,university students use sports short videos more frequently and have a more positive attitude towards physical exercise.There are significant differences in the attitudes towards physical exercise and the current situation of using short sports videos among university students with different demographic characteristics(gender,grade,major and place of origin),the reasons for which are related to various factors such as gender differences between men and women,their majors,family environment and economic status,etc.Correlations exist between the four secondary indicators of short sports videos and the eight secondary indicators of physical exercise attitudes.The correlation between the four secondary indicators of short sports videos and the eight secondary indicators of attitude towards physical exercise was found.
