| Self-depletion refers to the phenomenon that the self-control ability temporarily drops due to the implementation of self-control,thus affecting the performance of subsequent operations. In table tennis competition, the receiver needs to eliminate external interference, concentrate on the opponent, and identify the opponent’s serving intention through visual search,so as to predict the ball’s landing point,so as to return the ball reasonably and accurately.Obviously, this kind of long-term concentration and repeated tactical decision of receiving serve is a self-control task, which will inevitably lead to self-depletion.Relevant studies have proved that self-depletion will affect sports decision-making,and the premise of efficient decision-making is that athletes conduct reasonable and effective visual search.Based on this, this study puts forward the hypothesis that self-depletion will affect table tennis serving decision-making by influencing visual search characteristics.A total of 22 subjects were selected in the study, and they were divided into 11 experts and 11 novices through the investigation of basic sports information.Experiment 2 exercise level(expert group, novice group)×2 self-depletion degree(high and low)was adopted as a two-factor mixed experimental design. The depletion task adopts the traditional Stroop task, and the decisionmaking task adopts the anticipation task(about 2000 ms in duration)of the landing point of table tennis service recorded by the forehand side spin technique.Measure the subjective evaluation(effort, difficulty, emotion)and objective evaluation(when Stroop’s task is inconsistent)of the depletion degree after the task.Use Eprime-3.0 psychological software to automatically record the correct number and reaction time to evaluate the performance of the service landing point anticipation task. The visual search behavior in the whole decisionmaking process was evaluated by Dikablis Glass 3 head-mounted eye movement instrument produced by Ergoneers,Germany. The conclusions are as follows:(1)Self-depletion affects the efficiency of the prediction of the placement of a player’s serve, and it still shows this difference at the same sports level. That is to say,the prediction efficiency of high-depletion athletes’ service landing point is lower;High-level athletes will also be affected by self-depletion.It is suggested that in the field of competitive sports, the strength model of self-control has universal applicability, and having enough self-control ability may be more conducive to decision-making.(2)The influence of self-depletion on the anticipation of the player’s service landing point may be related to the changes of some visual search features, which are specifically manifested as the longer gaze duration, longer saccade distance, more gaze times, more dispersed gaze trajectory, easier interference of external information, and outward diffusion of gaze hotspots.(3)The influence of self-depletion on expert group is less than that of novice group, that is,in the state of self-depletion,the difference between expert group and novice group in the anticipation efficiency of service landing point and visual search features is less than that of novice group.(4)Under the task of predicting the landing point of table tennis service, the expert group has higher efficiency in predicting the landing point of service, and often adopts the visual search mode with short gaze time, less gaze times, smaller saccade distance and more concentrated gaze trajectory. The gaze hotspots are mainly concentrated in the clapping and racket areas. |
