A Case Study Of Social Work Intervention In The Living Plight Of The Elderly Living Alone In Urban Communities ——Take L Community As An Example

This study takes the elderly living alone in urban community as the research object,and uses the method of case social work to intervene the living difficulties of the elderly living alone in urban community.Through field observation and interviews,the author understands that the subject of the case is faced with practical difficulties such as inconvenient movement,illness and emotional loneliness due to age,poor health and other subjective and objective reasons.Through in-depth understanding of the actual situation and emotional state of the case owner,the researchers found that the biggest problem faced by the case owner is the special emotional dilemma she is facing,and the root of this phenomenon lies in her special life experience and the special personality and behavior characteristics shaped by her bitter experience in her youth.As a social worker,how to help the elderly living alone with special emotional needs resolve the difficulties they face,and what methods to help the case owner get rid of the life problems she faces,so that she can spend the last mile of her life peacefully,stably and healthily has become an important work in front of the author.Based on the in-depth understanding and complete grasp of the case owner’s situation,the author has formulated a work plan for three stages: first,on the basis of collecting data in the early stage,find the difficulties of the case owner through the methods of companionship and in-depth conversation,deeply understand the subjective and objective root causes of the case owner’s life difficulties,and try to help her solve the difficulties in life through companionship and communication;Second,try to build a social support network for the case owner from the three levels of family relations,social work team and community support to help the case owner establish sustainable social support;Third,try to strengthen psychotherapy and other methods to change the "obsession" of the case owner,and completely solve the emotional dilemma of the case owner by relieving his strong sense of loneliness and establishing ideas in line with the development of the times.The evaluation results show that through the efforts of social workers,the life dilemma of the case owner has improved significantly,and the emotional dilemma has also improved.However,due to the special experience and special personality characteristics of her life,the loneliness of the case owner is still higher than that of ordinary people.The cognitive methods and life experience rooted in the depths of her thoughts make it difficult for her to accept the advice of social workers.The unsuccessful case work makes the author realize that the emotional plight of the elderly has profound historical and social roots,and can not be completely solved or changed through short-term service.To really solve these problems,we need not only long-term intervention and in-depth and meticulous work,but also a series of realistic social conditions and substantive changes.At present,there are a large number of elderly people living alone in China.Changing their living difficulties requires the joint action of multiple subjects of families,communities,institutions and the government to fundamentally solve the living difficulties of elderly people living alone.
