Since the records, the history of human diseases is also the history of human resistance to bacteria. As the cotton fabric that everyone will contact with every day,it is easy to become a hotbed of microorganisms in the environment of suitable temperature and humidity of human skin. Therefore,it is of great significance to study antibacterial materials and apply them to cotton.Silver has the most excellent antibacterial effect among inorganic antibacterial materials. Therefore,i n this paper,silver-based inorganic antibacterial materials were prepared by in-situ synthesis. The antibacterial function of this material has broad spectrum, high efficiency and stability, and has potential application value.Firstly,PMANa polymer was prepared and then the Ag-PMANa antibacterial material was synthesized by using the polymer as stabilizer and Ag~+as effective antibacterial component. The silver-based antibacterial solution is clear and transparent, having excellent antibacterial ability to E.coli and S.aureus, and has good reusability and antibacterial stability.Zeta potential,GPC(Gel Permeation Chromatography),UV-Vis(Ultra Violet-Visible Spectroscopy),XPS(X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy)and FTIR(Fourier Transform infrared spectroscopy)were used to characterize the Ag-PMANa antibacterial material. It was confirmed that silver was in the ionic state and it was speculated that Ag~+was connected with carboxylate in the PMANa polymer chain.Then,Ag-PMANa antibacterial material was applied to cotton, and it was characterized by SEM(Scanning Electron Microscope),EDS(Energy dispersive spectroscopy),FTIR,XPS and TGA(Thermo Gravimetric Analyzer)that the addition of antibacterial material had no effect on the morphology and properties to cotton.Under the condition of very low concentration of Ag~+,the antibacterial effect of cotton can still reach 99.9%.Through a series of experiments, the ligh t stability, slow release and washing resistance of cotton loaded with Ag-PMANa were verified. Finally, the antibacterial mechanism of Ag-PMANa antibacterial material against bacteria is speculated and discussed through Ag ion permeation antibacterial experiment and bacterial oxidative stress experiment. The electron microscopy images indicted that the Ag-PMANa antibacterial material destroyed the cell membrane leading to the content flowing out.In this process,Ag~+of effective antibacterial component in antibacterial materials contacts with bacteria through electrostatic interactions, and disrupts the intracellular metal ion balance, cause to impaired selective permeability of the membrane, the efflux of bacterial contents including the reducing sugars an d proteins.Besides that,it was verified that this antibacterial material disrupted the bacteria's own ROS(reactive oxygen species)balance, inhibited intracellular enzyme activity, and induced bacterial oxidative stress, and the above antibacterial proc esses interacted with each other to cause the death of the final bacteria.
