With the rapid enhancement of people’s living standard,the demand of consumers on catering industry shifts from material needs to spiritual ones.Since the popularity of theme restaurants in the 1990s,they have become attractive and shown great growth in domestic catering market.However,there are obvious disadvantages in some of them,including the lack of cultural connotation,the inconformity between restaurants’ space environment and their culture theme and the excessive use of culture elements.As the carrier of catering space and catering culture,cultural theme restaurants play a key role in the development of Chinese traditional culture.Under the background of regional cultures,this paper studies modern catering space and demonstrates that,by creating the atmosphere of regional culture theme in the design of modern catering space,restaurants of regional culture themes can spread around the world.This paper illustrates the basic concepts of regional cultures as well as theme restaurants,and deeply analyzes the features and the design of theme restaurants.Based on the practical cases,this paper also analyzes the application of regional culture elements and the method of creating the atmosphere of regional cultures so as to establish the new model of space design of such restaurants.
