The practical learning of Ming and Qing Dynasties is a phased theoretical form of Confucianism from the late Ming Dynasty to the late Qing Dynasty.It advocates reality and repels fabrication,seeking truth from facts,and integrating knowledge with practice.The direct reason for its rise is that the practical learning thinkers saw the disadvantages of the end stream of Neo Confucianism in the late Ming Dynasty,which interpreted the classics at will according to their likes and dislikes,and talked nothing about the nature and justice of the mind and the affairs of the world.They realized that the end stream of Neo Confucianism could not only maintain the faith of the people,improve the moral weathering of the society,or contribute to the progress of social affairs and the improvement of people's livelihood,so they criticized it from different perspectives.Ruan Yuan,as an important representative of practical learning in the Qing Dynasty,is known as "the elder of the three dynasties,the Minister of the nine provinces,and the writer of a generation".He advocated and practiced the practical spirit of "seeking truth from facts" and "managing the world for practical use".In the political practice of the local government,Ruan Yuan has made great achievements in eliminating the Pirate Group of Cai Qian,building forts to prevent foreigners,and vigorously banning opium,etc.;in the aspect of academic research,Ruan Yuan advocates reconciling the Han and Song Dynasties,not setting up a door,giving equal attention to both textual research and theory of justice,and integrating the two into practical practice.He reorganized and interpreted the original meaning of Confucian classics through exegesis and textual research on the Confucian classics from the pre Qin to the Han Dynasty,intending to eliminate the empty interpretation of the concepts of mind and Qi in the Neo Confucianism of song and Ming Dynasties due to the influence of Buddhism and the elders,so as to restore the orthodoxy of Confucianism and Mencius and make it turn to the track of practical use.The idea of "saving nature" is the core of Ruan Yuan's practical thoughts.On the one hand,the construction of Ruan Yuan's thought system of "saving nature" is to get the original meaning of "nature" by researching the Confucian classics of the Pre-Qin and Han Dynasties,and to integrate and link it with his own;on the other hand,it is to inherit and develop Dai Zhen's thought of "understanding nature through blood,spirit and heart".Based on these two points,Ruan Yuan established his own practical standpoint and criticized the Neo Confucianism of song and Ming Dynasties and the Buddhism and laokong,aiming to restore the Confucian character of being practical and practical in order to serve the practical political and social practice.The main content of this paper is to systematically discuss Ruan Yuan's practical thought of "saving nature" from two aspects: the establishment of exegetical textual research,the thought of "saving nature" and the practical dimension of the thought of "saving nature",and to draw out the whole picture of Ruan Yuan's practical thought from this point of view-the practical study of textual research and the practical study of classics.The purpose of this paper is to systematically sort out and study Ruan Yuan's practical thought of "saving nature",in order to explore the different characteristics of practical science and Neo Confucianism as well as the internal relationship between them,to show Ruan Yuan's rich and full image of practical thinkers and the academic atmosphere of the Qianjia era represented by them,and to outline the internal logic and ideological changes of the transformation from Neo to Neo in the history of philosophy.
