Wang Bao And The Study Of Literature In The Later Period Of The Northern Dynasty

Wang Bao was an important writer who moved from the south to the north during the Northern and Southern dynasties.After he entered the North,he had an important influence on the literature of the Northern dynasty,especially the development of the Western Wei dynasty and the Northern Zhou dynasty.This paper discusses the relationship between Wang Bao and the Northern dynasty literature from the aspects of Wang Bao's life and thoughts,cultural and literary activities,literary creation,relationship with Guan Long literature group,influence on the literary world in the Northern dynasty,and the role and position of Wang Bao in the development of the Northern literature.The structure of this paper is as follows:The first chapter mainly discusses Wang Bao's life and thoughts,Wang Bao,who was born in the Wang family from LangYa,a famous family of the Southern dynasty,could be divided into two stages.The first stage is in the southern period,Wang Bao from mi shu lang in Jian Kang to the leading officer in Jiang Ling.In the second stage,Wang Bao was captured by the Western Wei but treated with courtesy by the rulers of the Western Wei dynasty and the Northern Zhou dynasty and died in the north.Wang Bao's thoughts were based on Confucianism,supplemented by Taoism and Buddhism.With the change of life experience,its thoughts also changed:in the southern period,it was dominated by Confucianism,while the thoughts of Buddhism and Taoism accounted for less in its ideological system.After entering the north,the proportion of Buddhism and Taoism gradually increased and became the main thoughts of Wang Bao in this period.The second chapter mainly discusses Wang Bao's cultural and literary activities after he entered the Northern dynasty.First,Wang Bao participated in the activities of the poetry gathering of scholars.These activities included the activities of banquets and poetry composition organized by the emperors and nobles of the Northern Zhou dynasty,as well as the rewards and gifts of other scholars of the Northern Zhou dynasty.The other was to participate in the activities organized by emperor Zhou ming di to cheat and write books in the Lin Zhi temple.Third,Wang Bao served as a bo shi of literature in the period of emperor of Zhou wu di dynasty,and was jointly responsible for the education of the emperor and his students.These literary activities provided a good opportunity for Wang Bao to communicate with the northerners,and they were also an important way for the communication between the north and the south.The third chapter mainly discusses Wang Bao's literary creation after he entered the Northern dynasty.His poems are rich in subject matter,which mainly involve serving and responding to orders,sending off and giving away answers,funeral and mourning,and chanting about the state of things.In the form of art,images of clouds,horses and long tou with rich connotations are mostly used to convey rich thoughts and feelings,creating a unique artistic conception of poetry or boundless or quiet.The artistic form of Wang Bao's poetry is characterized by his good use of historical stories,Taoist legends and the use of Wei dynasty and Jin dynasty poems.Wang Bao's articles after he entered the Northern dynasty were mostly application articles of the nature of official affairs written in parallel prose,with neat sentence style,flexible and diversified style,dense use of code,and elaborate arrangement.Few existing private essays,such as the book of Let books with zhou hongrang,a scholar of the Liang dynasty,are full of emotion,combined with the rhetoric of parallel prose,and both in love and prose,which has been praised by later generations and represents the highest achievement of Wang Bao's parallel prose.The fourth chapter mainly discusses the relationship between Wang Bao and the early Guan Long literature group and its role.The early Guan Long literature group was composed of Dai Bei nobles,local scholars of Guan Long literature,Shan Dong scholars and Jiang Nan scholars who were later captured in the north.The attitude of this literary group towards Wang Bao is to actively accept,attach importance to preferential treatment and use for them.There are three main characteristics of the local culture and literature of the early Guan Long literature group.Second,the literary group with the ruler Yuwen as the core of leadership,the other three groups as auxiliary;Thirdly,the development of the literary group has experienced a process from advocating martial arts in the early stage to gradually integrating civil and military arts.With the joining of Wang Bao,Yu Xin and other southerners,the literary creation of the early Guan Long literature group gradually changed from the official document to the description of the spirit,literary brilliance of literary works.Wang Bao played a certain role in promoting the literary development of early Guan Long literature group in the aspects of subject matter,content and art form.The fifth chapter mainly discusses Wang Bao's influence on the literary world in the Northern dynasty.First,in terms of literary concept,with his emphasis on aesthetic function in his poetry and social and political function in his prose,Wang Bao played a certain role in promoting the early transformation of Guan Long literature group in the literary world in the later period of the Northern dynasty from the view of literature politics and education to the aesthetic view of literature.Second,in terms of subject matter,Wang Bao's literary works,such as frontier stopper,reward and gift,and ode to the scenery,were mostly used for reference by the literati of the Northern Zhou dynasty.Third,in the aspect of art form,Wang Bao's literary creation techniques of using allusions and dubbing were also widely used in the works of Northern Zhou scholars.Fourth,as regards literature style,Wang Bao gave the Northern dynasty literary circles into the wind of qing li,study for the pure and fresh and bright and beautiful southern style provides a paradigm of literature can be used for reference,at the same time Wang Bao late in joining the Northern dynasty literary circles also borrows its plain virile literary style,and created a more vigorous style of poetry,in the process of promoting the civil exchanges and integration of literature plays an important role.
