A Study Of The Characteristics Of Primitivism In Frida Kahlo's Paintings

Frida Kahlo(1907-1954)was a famous artist in the history of Mexican art and also played an important role in western modern art in the 20th century.Her paintings are mainly self-portraits and portraits,combined with the indigenous culture and art form of Mexico,her works have a unique personal style.This article mainly through to the western modern art in the 20th century the analysis and summary of primitivism in art characteristics,to Frida,carol’s autobiography,personal letters,manuscripts and other relevant materials as a stronghold,with Frida Kahlo representative paintings relative ratio and combination,thus concluded that Frida Kahlo works with the original artistic features.For modern art,primitivism is the result of re-examining,re-interpreting and drawing on the original art.It exists in the western modern art in the form of an art trend in the 20th century.Frida Kahlo is in the period of flourishing and development of primal art.Therefore,this paper will discuss Frida Kahlo’s paintings from the following three aspects.First,the choice of subject matter,second,the external form of the work,third,the internal performance of the work.By Frida Kahlo paintings in the three aspects of analysis and summary,from the perspective of another art Frida Kahlo painting carries on the deep analysis,in the opinion of her original artistic style to add new expression,at the same time of primitivism in western modern art in the 20th century art characteristics have further understanding and the understanding.Frida Kahlo’s paintings are the spiritual home she built for herself,which is not subject to the influence of realistic factors,but comes from the true portrayal of her own heart.Her works are simple,she just released the pain from the real life in the painting art to obtain the comfort of her soul,and this simple creation motivation is the core of the primitivism art characteristics.
