Investigation And Protection Research On The Current Situation Of Shadow Puppetry In Wangcheng Area Of Hunan Province

The Chinese shadow puppetry in Wangceng can be considered as one of the important shadow plays in Hunan,and it has been equally famous with Liuyang firecrackers,it enjoys the good fame of “the whip of Liuyang,the theatrical troupe of Hexi”.However,along with the continuous development in the society,the shadow puppetry in Wangcheng has gone to the decline,traditional folk art is losing its cultural soil for existence,and it is facing the crisis of gradual extinction.In the context of intangible cultural heritage protection at present,rescue and protect the shadow puppetry in Wangcheng has become the essential issue nowadays,which worth the thinking and paying attention to for relevant institutions.This article first discussed about the historical origin of shadow puppetry and the formation and development of shadow puppetry in Wangcheng,and it discussed its performance form and content;then it explored the current living situation of employees in shadow puppetry in Wangcheng,the repertory performance condition,audience group,managers in cultural administration and the conditions about protection exhibition through on-site interview and questionnaires,and found out that the current heritance and development of shadow puppetry in Wangcheng is in worries,facing the shrinking market and losing audiences;failures are in the heritance and it is desperate for passing it down on the future generations;lacking of capitals and protection laws;insufficient on propaganda;and other dilemmas including the limitation for shadow play perse.Aiming at the dilemmas written above,this article is going to propose the suggestive strategies as follows: promote the shadow play to go into campuses,strengthen the power in the propagandize the shadow play culture,complete the collection and organization of data,government should strengthen supportive dynamics,institutionalize the inheritor protection,put more effort on reform and innovation,combine the tourist industry,broaden the cultural space of shadow play.To have hope in resolve the phenomena of cultural loss from the root,to create a cultural space that Wangcheng shadow play is going to live on at present,and make Wangcheng shadow play resend its vitality and charm in temporary times.
