The research object of this paper is the structure "bu yong shuo" which is frequently used in modern Chinese.Its particularity lies in that the negative form can express the "好" of positive semantics and degree semantics.This paper aims to make a comprehensive description of "bu yong shuo" through a multi-angle analysis.This paper is divided into six chapters,the main parts of which are in Chapters Ⅱ to Ⅴ.ChapterⅠ Introduction.Firstly,expounds the background meaning of the topic,and then summarizes the existing research results,indicating the writing intention and research value of the paper.Finally,indicate the source of the corpus.Chapter Ⅱ analyzes the lexicalization and grammaticalization of "bu yong shuo" from a diachronic perspective.In lexicalization,it was found that the adverb "bu yong shuo" first appeared in the Southern Song Dynasty,and the conjunction was first appeared in the Qing Dynasty;in grammaticalization,its grammaticalization as discourse markers was also also began to appear in the Qing Dynasty.Subjectivity,semantic change,and chunk psychology are the main drivers of lexicalization.Syntactic location,reanalysis,and interaction subjectivity are the main drivers of grammaticalization.Chapter Ⅲ mainly analyzes modern Chinese "bu yong shuo" chich at the synchronic level.It is concluded that "bu yong shuo" in modern Chinese has many forms of expression: Phrases,Words,Relevance markers,Discourse markers.Chapter Ⅳ analyzes the semantic and pragmatic functions of "bu yong shuo".Semantically,the basic meaning of "bu yong shuo" is: "don’t need to say","don’t say","needless to say";the extended meaning is "affirmation,recognition" and "the goodness of degree";At the same time,we also analyzes the semantic characteristics of its opaque meaning.Pragmatically,we believe that " bu yong shuo " has:highlighting function,inference and judgment function,example supplementary function,and progressive connection function.Chapter Ⅴ.We select the three-syllable negation forms "bu yao shuo " and "mei de shuo ",which have roughly the same semantic or pragmatic functions as "by yong shuo ",for comparative analysis.We compare the similarities and differences of those three from the multiple angles in terms of syntax,semantics,pragmatics and modality.Chapter VI concludes.It mainly summarizes the full paper,and points out the problems and the direction of efforts in this study.
