The text of this translation practice report is selected from Paul Ross' book,Barriers to Entry. The Reverse Angle(Chapter 9)is selected as the source text of this report. This book belongs to the category of business. It resolves the issue of cultural clashes that arise in workplace communication, using examples of cultural differences between Chinese and Western companies to analyze the impact of cultural backgrounds, education, and ways of thinking on people. In translating, the problems of culture-loaded words and cohesion devices are more noteworthy. Therefore,in dealing with these problems, the translator applies the translation strategy of direct translation with notes;for the problem of discourse articulation, the translator classifies them into three types, namely, referential cohesion, logical cohesion and lexical cohesion, and applies two translation strategies: omission and reduction. The purpose of this translation practice report is to provide some possible references for the translation and research of business texts in the future.
