The 2020 Shandong Export Commodities Cloud Exhibition Consecutive Interpretation Practice Report

This is a practice report based on the Chinese-English consecutive interpreting service for the 2020 Shandong Export Commodities(Nigeria)Online Exhibition from August 31 st to September 2nd,2020.Under the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic,this exhibition took advantage of the ZOOM online meeting platform to contact with the foreign exhibitors.This report consists of four parts.The first two parts mainly introduce the background,requirements,pre-interpretation preparations and the whole interpreting process of the interpretation activity.The third part is the analysis of the case which is the main part of this report.This part mainly summarizes the problems encountered in the interpretation activity and puts forward the corresponding coping strategies.Omission and combined interpretation are applied to dealing with the problem of information redundancy.Reorganization and de-verbalization are applied to dealing with the logic-related problem.Paraphrase and literal interpretation can be used to solve the problem of lacking connotation in the interpretation of culture-loaded words.The last part summarizes the reflections,the significance and the value of the interpretation activity and implications for the future.It is hoped that this report will provide references for future interpretation learning and interpreters who carry out similar practical activities.
