A Report On The Interpretation Of Sino-italian Jewelry Exhibition

Entrusted by the Shenzhen Jin Hao Fu Trade Co.,Ltd.,this interpretation practice is a consecutive interpretation regarding 2016 Sino-Italian Jewelry Exhibition on July 20th,2016.This exhibition provided both countries' well-known designers with a valuable platform for exchanging their inspiration and artistic creation.As the most common form of inter-bilingual interpretation,consecutive interpreting means that the interpreter needs to transfer different languages to different target-language speakers.Consecutive interpreting is broad in scope which can be applied to non-transacted conversations,formal government summits,or press conferences.Based on the jewelry's exhibition,the interpreter had to shuttle among three parties.This conversational interpretation requires interpreter to continually translate the linguistic codes,and convey brief messages back and forth.By analyzing this practice's features,the interpreter decided to apply the interpretive theory to this practice,which required the interpreter to flexibly translate the source language on the premise of understanding speakers' pragmatic function so as to deliver more effective information.To some degree,that demands interpreters should tightly connect the source language with context and fully mobilize their own background knowledge to actively participate in translation under all circumstances.Therefore,during the whole process of this exhibition,the interpreters,to ensure the effect of this task,used sentence conversion,amplification,omission and other translation strategies.This report aims to summary problems occurring in this practice and the main challenges appearing in such kind of interpretation by analyzing translation strategies and typical cases of misinterpretation.Finally,to be competent for completing numerous interpretation tasks,interpreters have to accumulate a great deal of experience and self-reflection.Obviously,the theoretical guidance plays a crucial role during the period of accumulation.Translation theory is helpful for interpreters to choose proper translation strategies,which effectively ensure the quality of interpretation and speeds up interpreters' improvement.
