A Report On The Practice Of Continuous Interpretation Of Talk Show In English And Chinese

This report is based on an English to Chinese consecutive interpreting of two episodes of the online talk show hosted by Trevor Noah in 2020——The Daily Social Distancing Show,the contents of which mainly focus on COVID-19 pandemic and a guest interview of Joe Biden,the present incumbent of the U.S.White House.Through transcribing,analyzing and adapting the interpreted text,the author finds three problems in the target language: redundancy of information,improper handling of logic and deficiency of humorous effect.In terms of redundancy of information,it can be solved by omission and combination.In terms of improper handling of logic,it can be solved by the explicitation of logic and restructuring logical relations.In terms of deficiency of humorous effect,it can be solved by domestication and amplification.
