In the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China,with the gradual opening of China's door,missionaries' activities in China became active again.They integrated into Chinese society and learned Chinese culture for the purpose of missionary.The key link to promote the localization of religion was to master Chinese.In order to learn Chinese well and provide efficient and convenient learning tools for later missionaries in China,missionaries compiled many Chinese books.A large number of Chinese characters and their related word formation are included in the dictionary of Chinese language learning,which also involves the interpretation of Chinese geography,local conditions and customs,religious beliefs and Chinese traditional culture and customs,providing great help for westerners to learn Chinese.By combing the bilingual dictionaries compiled by missionaries in this period,this paper explores the process of Chinese learning from the perspective of Chinese learners and researchers,which has certain practical significance and practical value for Chinese International Education.The word "Tian" has rich cultural connotation and is frequently used in daily life.For missionaries,it is not only the basic vocabulary for them to learn Chinese,but also the link between Christianity and traditional Chinese beliefs.Taking "Tian" and its word formation as the specific research object,this paper comprehensively adopts the methods of literature research,corpus analysis and descriptive comparison to establish a lexicographic corpus information database.From the perspective of missionaries,this paper combs the development track of "Tian" and its word formation in missionary dictionaries,clarifies its ancient and modern evolution process,and then probes into the influence of missionary lexicography on Chinese Lexicography in the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China,and to explore its value to the current Chinese International Education.The main body of this paper consists of five parts.The introduction part mainly describes the research status,the reason of topic selection and research significance,and the source of corpus.The first chapter based on the dictionary information database,classifies and analyzes the definition of "Tian" to explore its development process.The second chapter takes the Related words of "Tian" in the information database as the specific research object,classifies the words retrieved from dictionaries,and discusses the evolution characteristics of "Tian" in dictionaries.Based on the first two chapters,the third chapter expounds the influence and reference value of missionary dictionaries on the compilation of Chinese dictionaries and export-oriented Chinese dictionaries,as well as the experience and enlightenment of missionaries in learning Chinese.The conclusion summarizes the previous research results,and points out the significance of missionary dictionaries research on this basis.From the perspective of missionaries,this paper explores the practical significance of missionaries' dictionaries on contemporary Chinese International Education,taking dictionaries as the carrier and "Tian" and its word formation as the specific research object,hoping to help the cause of Chinese International Education and provide new learning ways for more non-native Chinese learners.
