In secondary vocational schools,English is an important course and plays a crucial part.However,the English-learning base of students in secondary vocational schools is poor,which contributes to English reading teaching has become a tough problem.Two aspects of students' reading capacity has been primly manifested by the secondary vocational school English teaching outline.On one hand,the ability of reading and comprehending English materials should be promoted by the teaching of English reading.On the other hand,more English reading learning materials on the basis of real simulation scenarios ought to be given to students,according to the professional development as the guidance.Therefore,English teachers should provide more real reading materials for students,so as to help students learn more knowledge and skill.In this paper,the author primly focus on the study of project-based learning.In the process of study,the author uses several ways to explores the concrete use of project-based learning in teaching English reading,such as investigation,literature and classroom observation and action research method.The project-based learning is based on the project,teachers should guide students to cooperate with each other.Through two teaching action researches,it is obviously showed that the use of project-based learning in class of English reading is beneficial to help students strengthen the enthusiasm for English learning.The use of project-based learning also changed the traditional education model in our country.The teacher is no longer the dominant person in class,but has become the conductor to assist students learning;Students are no longer teacher-centered,but are able to study and explore knowledge according to the requirements of the project.Therefore,the ability of English reading for students in secondary vocational school can be promoted by the use of project teaching method,As a result,the ability in English reading of secondary vocational school students can be improved by the use of project teaching method.The independent reading and the studying habits can also be cultivated by the method.The final goal is to help them adjust to the requirement of the society,and realize the aim of employment.The advantages of project-based learning in vocational English reading teaching are showed by this paper,but there are still some limitations.The author concluded them and put forward some suggestions.
