Textual Research On Some Historical Events Involved In The Analects Of Confucius

"The Analects" is a Confucian classic that has been handed down to this day,and there are many academic studies on "The Analects".This article starts with the relevant historical facts in "The Analects",and regarding the pre-Qin and Han dynasties,such as "Zuo Zhuan","Historical Records","Confucius' Jiayu","Suoyuan","Zhuangzi","Xunzi" and other documents related to "The Analects".After compiling and collating,the records in these classics are quite different.This article is to examine and distinguish these historical facts that are related but not identical to the Analects.Confucianism has always been the core content of traditional Chinese scholarship.As a classic of Confucianism,scholars of the past dynasties have commented and studied on it.There are countless books,such as Liang Huangkan's "Explanation of Analects",Song Zhuxi's "The Analects of Confucius Annotation",the Qing Dynasty Liu Baonan's "The Analects of Justice" and Cheng Shude's "Collected Interpretations of the Analects" and so on,based on the annotations made to the Analects,scholars also have different views on certain related historical facts.This thesis focuses on part of the historical events involved in the Analects of Confucius,combined with the pre-Qin and Han dynasties classics and many predecessor scholars' commentaries on the "Analects",and examines some historical events.The research covers the family of Confucius,the trajectory of traveling around the world,the disciples of Confucius,and the characters of Confucius' contemporaries,and finally,it includes Cui Shu's Zhu Si Kao Xin Lu's supplement to the relevant historical events of the Analects.The events and characters discussed in this article cannot cover all the events and characters.Only representative events and characters are selected,and we are committed to discussing a certain point by fully combining the records of relevant classics and the results of scholars' examinations.The historical facts in the Analects of Confucius and other ancient books have been compiled and examined.There have been many related studies by predecessors,such as the "Zhu Si Kao Xin Lu" of Cui Shu in the Qing Dynasty,which uses ancient records to make relevant historical works.After examination and analysis,he boldly questioned the relevant historical facts recorded in the Analects of Confucius,which had a great influence on the later "suspicious thoughts".We cannot deny that Cui Shu's "skepticism about the ancient" is progressive.However,as a Qing dynasty,Cui Shu has not read the newly unearthed documents later,unable to use new materials to examine and verify historical facts,and the research methods used at that time were also traditional academic paradigm,which leaves a certain space for us to discuss this issue today.There are many chapters in Qian Mu's "Examination and Debate on the Years of the Pre-Qin Zhuzi" that refute Cui Shu's views.Later researchers also put forward some new views,which are quite different from Cui Shu's arguments.However,the papers on the historical facts of "The Analects" are mostly researches on a certain issue without systematic integration.Although relevant works involve some historical facts in the Analects of Confucius,they generally do not specifically examine a certain historical fact in depth.This article will integrate these scattered materials together,and make supplementary examinations on the deficiencies in the existing research results.
