The Public Sphere And Freedom

As one of the important thinkers,philosophers and political theorists in the 20th century,Arendt was influenced by the Marxist theory of state and freedom,and put forward the idea of realizing individual freedom and value based on the public sphere.Arendt believed that human freedom comes from communication and the public sphere.The principle of the public sphere is freedom。The freedom and the action makes a man a man.Through the shaping and establishment of public power and active civic culture,the public sphere has been further developed,and people’s political freedom and the freedom of action have been further protected.Everyone should pursue freedom,pursue the realization of human nature,and leave their own value in the long river of history.Freedom has become the meaning of human’s life.This paper tries to express the importance of the construction and development of the public sphere for the achievement of freedom through the Arendt’s republicanism view of freedom,so as to provide help for how people can find the value and significance of their own existence in the current society.The first chapter of this paper recombines the theoretical source and ideological context of Arendt’s public sphere theory.Through the analysis of the classical political philosophy,Arendt connected entering the public space or participating in politics with maintaining the humanity of"human being" or achieving the freedom of human being.Arendt’s public domain theory is mainly analyzed from two dimensions:human’s situation and political community.The second chapter makes a distinction between the positive part and the negative part of Arendt’s thought through the analysis of Marx’s theory of the relationship between state and freedom.The third chapter discusses the contemporary value of Arendt’s theory based on the public sphere,and puts the positive part of her thought into reality,guides the real society,and provides new theoretical support for the realization of people’s value and freedom.Although Arendt liberal ideas based on the public domain has its own limitations,but it can’t cover up its effect,for today’s China,her theory can play a role in forming a new public sphere,.It also needs to blend in with contemporary social characteristics so as to realize her idea.In the context of contemporary China,it has not only academic significance to explore the influence of Arendt’s public sphere,but also practical significance in many aspects.Her theory is helpful for us to clarify the significance of public sphere to political practice,human’s freedom and value better.Arendt’s questions also have strong Chinese relevance.Now,we face the confusion of personal freedom and public rights.It is not to say that by copying someone’s ideas or theory can completely solve our problems.In order to build a truly free community,play to the role of the public sphere completely,we need derive the essence of the theory,and through the dialogue with the outside world to achieve our progress.
