In communication, people often use words such as "feel","think",or "guess" to convey discourse information. For the listeners, these verbs are not necessarily true,so they need to make a second judgment,at the same time, the listeners can also get the source of the information and the way the speaker obtains the information to help them judge. From the speaker's point of view, when the speaker uses these verbs,he /she will judge the authenticity of the information. For example, when he / she is more certain about an event,he / she will use "think" rather than "guess".Evidentiality focuses on the source and acquisition of information,as well as the speaker's subjective attitude towards the authenticity and reliability of information. The research object of this topic is the inferential verbs that can reflect the meaning of evidentiality. On the basis of fully observing the facts of Chinese language, this paper defines these verbs, focusing on the performance such as their group restriction of evidentiality, their information sources, the reliability, and many factors that affect its reliability. The paper is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is the introduction, which explains the research object, research value, research ideas and research methods, the source of corpus,as well as introduces the related research status of domestic and foreign evidentiality and the definition of evidentiality at home and abroad. In the second chapter, according to the definition of the evidentiality at home and abroad, five basic elements of the category are determined, and the classification mode of this paper is put forward. Then the scope of inferential verbs is defined from the semantic and syntactic level, and 53 inferential verbs are finally determined. At the same time,we find that some of the inferential verbs emphasize the judgment conclusion, while the other part highlights the judgment process. Therefore,we subdivide the inferential verbs into two categories: "think" and "speculate",The semantic features of these two kinds of verbs are different. The third chapter discusses the expression of evidentiality of inferential verbs. It is believed that inferential verbs embody two kinds of information acquisition methods: "belief type" and " speculate type",and can transmit information sources.Secondly, through the investigation of reliability of different inferential verbs,it is found that there are differences in their reliability,"I think" verbs have higher reliability than "inferential" verbs.Thirdly,it describes the influence of other factors on the reliability of inferential verbs. It is believed that the contextual factors such as person, time, space and co-occurrence will affect the reliability of inferential verbs.Chapter four studies the subjectification and pragmatic functions of inferential verbs. It is believed that inferential verbs reflect the speaker's understanding of propositional information. These verbs are subjective, which is the result of subjectification. We discuss the subjectification of inferential verbs and the discourse marker features of "I + inferential verbs" structure. And the inferential verbs play an important role in discourse, mainly including communicative function, discourse coherence function, pragmatic mitigation function and discourse responsibility function. The fifth chapter is the conclusion.Summarize the research content, generalize the research conclusion, and point out the shortcomings of the article, clear the direction of future efforts.
