Qian Juntao Cover Font Design Research

This article organizes and summarizes the book cover works designed by Qian Ju ntao,focusing on analyzing how his design practice during the "Golden Decade" from1927 to 1937 connected and transformed Chinese traditional culture and Western mode rn art.The research focus is on the text design of his book cover design works,and further through the composition analysis and style analysis of the fonts in the cover d esign,the originality and transcendence of Qian Juntao's cover font design are summar ized,and he has a deep understanding of it.It is the practical experience of how to connect the traditional Chinese character modeling rules with the characteristics of We stern modernist art schools through its own ability,and then further transform it into a unique glyph style with experimental creative methods.At the same time,the author also supplemented and improved this core research content from other aspects: First,from the background of Qian Juntao's time,analyze the shaping and development of his design career path in the era of open change;Th e second is an extension of his "Golden Decade" design practice,expounding Qian Ju ntao's transformation from novelty to returning to tradition in the late 1930 s,showing his self-generated design trend in font design,and moving towards a more Stage of st ability and maturity;third,the author conducts a horizontal comparison from the persp ective of design practitioners,compares and analyzes the design practices and concepts of the same category in the context of simultaneous air,and finds the truly valuable a nd transcendence in the font design of Qian Juntao's cover.In summary,this article uses literature research methods,comparative analysis met hods,and physical image verification methods to conduct a comprehensive research an d analysis of Qian Juntao's practical activities in cover font design,and find precious artistic creation experience in his design career.The value core of his cover font des ign is embodied in his open and radical tradition.Qian Juntao connects the "Chinese spirit" in traditional culture with the design language of Western modernism,radically transforming the design of traditional Chinese characters.It is precisely because of his own professional consciousness,traditional culture and art accomplishment,and cross-d isciplinary vision of integration that he made high-level exploration and examples for China's early modernist graphic design.
