A Study Of National Consciousness In Lao She's Novels

In the history of modern Chinese literature,Lao She is well known for his unique depiction of the culture of the citizens of old Beijing.In his works,Lao She expressed his unique national feelings by depicting lifelike pictures of life customs.This paper takes national consciousness as the breakthrough point to explore the origin of national consciousness in Lao She's novel literary creation,the diversified characteristics and the influence of contemporary writers' creation.The first chapter of this paper mainly explores the origin of national consciousness in Lao She's novels from three aspects: First,it comes from the traditional Confucian and Taoist cultures,which play a leading role in the origin of Lao She's national consciousness and are reflected in the writing of filial piety culture,female culture and official culture in Lao She's literary works.Second,the Manchu spirit,which originated from the Manchu spirit and was passed down from generation to generation,influenced the formation of Lao She's national view.Third,the unique Beijing culture originated from the regional culture of Beijing has influenced the formation of Lao She's national consciousness.The second chapter of this paper mainly explains the diversity of national consciousness in Lao She's novels.First of all,it is reflected in Lao She's examination of traditional culture.Lao She affirmed the position of human nature as a good subject,and reflected on the evil of human nature.From a forward-looking and modern perspective,Lao She re-examined the traditional Chinese culture and reflected on the vain and undoing leisure attitude towards life.Secondly,in the writing of the national feelings,Lao She praised Qian Moyin,Fang Baoqing and other craftsmen of the last ages for their adherence to the national integrity,and placed their expectations on the young generation,who are the backbone of realizing national independence and national prosperity.Finally,Lao She focused on the Manchu folk customs and etiquette.By presenting the Manchu folk customs in a scene style,Lao She brought the readers into the scene and criticized the decadent and backward system while expressing the human beauty and human affection in the Manchu folk customs under the feudal system.The third chapter of this paper mainly explores the exploration of the literary form of national consciousness in Lao She's novels and its influence.Lao She reformed the narrative mode of Zhanghui,which is commonly used in traditional novels,and adopted the popular style of storyteller to narrate literature and enhance the expression of his articles.At the same time,the literary works represented by The Story of the Cat City are Lao She's experimental exploration of the fable genre,and the articles show the writer's criticism of the national character in a humorous way.In addition,Lao She uses modern vernacular to portray his characters,showing their characteristics in various aspects.Lao She's national consciousness and attitude towards traditional culture in his literary creation have influenced contemporary writers' literary creation,and the historical writing of Beijing's traditional folk customs and citizen class has become the main story subject of Beijing literature,and Lao She's modern reflection on the nationality has also brought new thinking perspective for contemporary literature.
