The Production-Oriented Approach(POA)is a pedagogy proposed by Wen Qiufang's team.The team made a long-term research and repeated practice,and they are aiming to solve the problem of "separation of learning and application" in Chinese foreign language education.Since 2018,the research of POA has also been flourishing in the field of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.Compared with the progress of the POA,the research progress of one-on-one Chinese teaching for adults lags behind,which is inconsistent with the increasing number of adult Chinese learners.In addition,there are still problems such as "separation of learning and application" and "frequent perceptual mismatch between teachers and students".In order to solve the problems of one-on-one Chinese teaching for adults,this study tries to apply the theory of POA to one-on-one Chinese teaching for adults.This thesis is divided into five parts.The first part(introduction),which mainly explains the background and significance of the topic,the theoretical basis,and the method of the study.It also summarizes the previous research results and shortcomings by compiling the related literature on POA and "one-on-one teaching".The second part is the first chapter,which includes the questionnaire survey and analysis of adult one-on-one Chinese learners and the interview survey and analysis of adult one-on-one Chinese teachers.Through analyzing the results of these two surveys,the existing problems of one-on-one Chinese teaching for adults and the reasons for them are analyzed.The third part(Chapter 2),which discusses the suitability of the POA with adult one-on-one Chinese teaching and proposes the principles of implementing the POA in adult one-to-one Chinese teaching.The fourth part(Chapter 3)takes four adult one-on-one Chinese learners of pre-intermediate level as the teaching target,and takes the intermediate speaking class as an example,and takes the third lesson of My Chinese Classroom(1),"I just put it in the drawer" as the base material.We have also designed the lesson and presented the complete implementation idea and process.The fifth part(Chapter 4)explains the effect of the implementation.It affirms the optimization of the POA on the teaching of adult one-on-one spoken Chinese and adult one-on-one Chinese teaching.It summarizes the problems,which were found in the implementation process and proposes four suggestions for improvement,namely,to clarify the applicable teaching targets of the POA and to clarify the requirements of the POA for teachers,take the teaching methods according to students' cognitive style,and use the videos flexibly in different teaching scene and project.This study confirms the positive effects of the Production-Oriented Approach on one-on-one Chinese language teaching for adults and opens up new research perspectives.The study also proposes principles for the implementation of the POA in one-on-one Chinese teaching for adults,which is a guideline for one-on-one teaching practice.
