A Study Of The Sequel To "A Dream Of Red Mansions" In The Qing Dynasty From The Perspective Of The Imperial Examination

The imperial examination system of the Qing Dynasty directly and profoundly influenced the life and creation of literati,which was reflected in many literary works,especially in novels.As a whole,the continuation of A Dream of Red Mansions is a representative with distinctive characteristics in the history of novels in the Qing Dynasty.At present,the academic circles pay more attention to the study of the concept of imperial examination in A Dream of Red Mansions,but pay little attention to the continuation.In this paper,the author studies the continuation of A Dream of Red Mansions in the Qing Dynasty,studies it from the perspective of imperial examination,studies the two-way interaction between the imperial examination system and the continuation of A Dream of Red Mansions,explores the author's creative mentality,the concept of imperial examination and the national cultural psychology embodied in the happy ending of the title of A Dream of Red Mansions,further excavates the social value and cultural value of the continuation of A Dream of Red Mansions,and objectively understands the influence of the imperial examination system on the gentry and its position in the Chinese cultural history.The paper divides into the introduction part,the text three chapters,the conclusion part.The introduction summarizes the relevant literature,clarifies the significance and innovation of this thesis,combines the novel with history from the interdisciplinary perspective,and analyzes the close relationship between the imperial examination system of Qing Dynasty and the sequel of A Dream of Red Mansions.The first chapter introduces the historical evolution and uniqueness of the imperial examination system in Qing Dynasty,defines the concept and scope of the continuation of A Dream of Red Mansions in Qing Dynasty,summarizes the basic situation of each continuation,and analyzes the influence of the writer's imperial examination experience on his writing mentality,novel content and artistic skills in combination with the 13 continuation of A Dream of Red Mansions.The second chapter sums up and arranges the imperial examination materials in the continuation of A Dream of Red Mansions,and divides them into four parts: the rules and regulations,the preparation before the examination,the examination process and the examination results.The third chapter focuses on the continuation of A Dream of Red Mansions,compares it with the original works and other novels in the same period,and analyzes the writers' different attitudes towards the imperial examinations.This paper explains the mentality of scholars and national culture embodied in the reunion ending of many writers who deliberately deviated from the original intention of Cao Xueqin.This paper probes into the relationship between the continued books and the public's horizon of reading expectation,and analyzes its promotion to the canonization of A Dream of Red Mansions.The epilogue sums up the whole paper,clarifies the relationship between the imperial examination system and the continuation of A Dream of Red Mansions in Qing Dynasty.
