Local Chronicles can comprehensively record the social,economic,political,cultural and other aspects of a certain region in a certain period,and show the historical development of a region.In recent years,although the field of myth research has been broadened and it is popular to study mythology from the perspective of literature,there is still a lack of research on the mythological stories in local Chronicles.Therefore,based on the local Chronicles of Guangdong in the historical context,this paper aims to record and classify the myths in the local Chronicles of Guangdong,to explore the cultural connotation,characteristics,mythological thoughts and the acceptance and dissemination of myths in the local Chronicles of Guangdong,so as to contribute to the study of local Chronicles and myths.The introduction.This part consists of two sections.In the first section,the concept of myth is simply defined and the research status of myth in Guangdong Chronicles is sorted out,including the materials related to myth in the research of Guangdong Chronicles and the materials related to Chronicles in Guangdong area.The second section discusses the purpose,significance and method of this research.The first chapter is about the main types of myths in the local records of Guangdong.This chapter mainly sorts out and classifies the mythological materials in Guangdong Chronicles according to the generalized mythological theory.It is divided into three sections in total.The first section is the origin myth,which is subdivided into two sub-categories: clan ancestor myth and cultural origin myth.The ancestral myth of clan includes Panhu myth,Leizu myth and Dragon Mother myth,and the cultural origin myth is represented by Wuyang myth.The second section is about the myth of the guardian god,including the myth of Mazu,the myth of the king of the three mountains and the myth of the golden flower god.The third section is the myth of gods and ghosts,which is divided into the myth of mortals and immortals and the myth of the love and enmity between mortals and ghosts.All of these myths are briefly expounded and summarized.The second chapter is the myth of Mazu in Guangdong Chronicles.This chapter is a case study,taking Mazu as the research object,which is divided into three sections.The first section elaborates the life story of Mazu recorded in the local Chronicles,and analyzes Mazu's main deeds from the diversity of divinity.The second section studies the construction and distribution of Mazu temples as well as the sacrificial activities of Mazu recorded in the local Chronicles,and summarizes the distribution of Mazu temples in Guangdong and the characteristics of Mazu sacrificial activities.Section three analyzes the reconstruction of image of Mazu by Cantonese people after the myth of Mazu was introduced into Guangdong,and the cultural connotation reflected by the myth of Mazu.The third chapter is the myth of Lei Zu in the gazetteers of Guangdong.This chapter is also a case study,taking Lei Zu as the research object,which is divided into two sections.The first section elaborates the different versions and differences of the myths of Leizu,lists three versions of the myths of Leizu according to the records in the local Chronicles,and compares the differences among the myths of different versions of Leizu in the way of lists to explore their connections.The second section discusses the cultural significance behind the myth of Lei Zu.One is the worship of the time-honored stone dog culture in Leizhou,the other is the worship of the god of thunder caused by the natural environment in Leizhou.The fourth chapter is the basic characteristics of myth in the local records of Guangdong.This chapter analyzes the basic features of the myths in the local records of Guangdong in general,and there are three main features: the fairy tales,the unique water mythological images in the Marine culture,and the distinctive Lingnan cultural features.The first section of fairy tales includes the fairy tales of the birth/appearance of the mythological heroes,the fairy tales of their behavior,and the strong view of animism and the immortality of the soul reflected in the local Chronicles.The second section is the unique water mythological image in the Marine culture.It explains the unique water mythological image in the local Chronicles of Guangdong from two perspectives: water and women's marriage and love,water and women's birth.In the third section,the distinctive characteristics of Lingnan culture include the worship of witch and ghost culture and the embodiment of the primitive life consciousness.The fifth chapter is the thought of myth in the local records of Guangdong.This chapter is divided into three,this paper discussed the myth of Canton,mainly displays in the chorography maker for different interpretations of the same myths,about ghosts and gods,and the relation of people's understanding and totem brought the culture connotation from three aspects,by distinguishing lexicographers understanding of mythology of comparison,analysis of mythology for people back then a kind of attitude.The sixth chapter looks at the acceptance and dissemination of myth from the local Chronicles of Guangdong.This chapter is divided into three sections to investigate the acceptance and dissemination of myths in the local records of Guangdong from three aspects: the blending and change of ethnic groups,the textual variation of myths in the dimension of time,and the difference in the spread of myths in the dimension of space.The epilogue.This part states the main conclusions of this paper.
