A Case Study Of Photographer Niu Zixiang

After the invention of photography,humans have mastered the ability to capture fixed images from reality.In different periods,historical activities and recording information carriers are also different.In the twentieth century,images,as an important record carrier,truly Reflects historical facts.As a typical representative of local photographers during this period,Niu Zixiang shot images concentrated in the Xinxiang area,and the shooting lasted a long time and kept intact.It is extremely precious research material.Photography,as a political propaganda tool for the proletariat,accomplishes the task of political identification through a specific mode of image dissemination.This type of "patterned" photography originated from red images during the War of Resistance against Japan.As the political environment changed,it became a pattern.The degree gradually deepened,and during the Cultural Revolution,it showed the characteristics of "high completeness,red light and bright".This feature is prominently reflected in the image of people during the Cultural Revolution.This article will take Niu Zixiang,a photographer from Xinxiang City,as a case study.His photographic works from 1958 to 1978 are the starting point.Firstly,I will analyze that images can be used as empirical evidence of historical events,which have technical and subjective,and objective authenticity and explain this period at the same time.The visual characteristics of red photography.Then select part of the images for image text analysis,and identify the information in the image and the specific cultural significance behind it by digging into the details of the image text information.The research also analyzes the image of the person in Niu Zixiang's image during the Cultural Revolution and summarizes the typical characteristics of this period.Character images,longitudinal comparison of the historical images of the same place before and after the Cultural Revolution,analysis of political movements in historical images.This research also verifies the authenticity of previous image annotations and corrects previous errors in image annotations.Finally,through the analysis of the technical environment of photography creation,it expounds on the difficult process of local photographers in this period.Niu Zixiang's images during this period reflect the process of Chinese social development,and also confirm the national memory,and have high research value for the history of Chinese photography and social history.
