Zhang Pengchun And Chinese Early Modern Drama

As one of the founders of Chinese early modern drama,P.C.Chang played an important role in the development of Chinese modern drama.Nankai new drama troupe,which he founded,is not only the most active northern group in Chinese early modern drama,but also an important carrier to explore and practice the ideas and norms of modern drama.Moreover,it has cultivated a number of drama talents for China,including modern dramatists Cao Yu.P.C.Chang's unique contribution to the establishment of modern drama concepts and norms should not be ignored in the study of modern drama genesis in China.This study will take P.C.Chang as the starting point to explore the occurrence of modern Chinese drama.Specifically,it includes the following aspects: pay attention to P.C.Chang's drama practice in Nankai new theater company,and his norms and achievements in script,director and drama theory,so as to sort out and study P.C.Chang's relatively complete drama activities in his whole life.At the same time,it also focuses on P.C.Chang's efforts to promote the exchange and integration of modern drama and traditional Chinese drama,and describes his track in early modern Chinese drama.Then,by discussing the actions of P.C.Chang and Nankai new drama troupe in the development stage of modern drama,this paper traces the generation process of Chinese modern drama from one stage to another,and focuses on the unique role played by P.C.Chang himself in this generation process.
