A Study Of Taoist Poems In "True Gao"

Zhengao is an important classic work of the Shangqing Daoism compiled by Tao Hongjing in the Southern and northern Dynasties.The main content of Zhengao is the records of various activities of the Shangqing Daoism monastic groups in the Eastern Jin Dynasty with Yang Xi as the spiritual medium.It records celestials' poems which were oral imparted by celestials,practice methods,fairyland appearance,some ghost driving and health preserving mantra,guiding massage formula,as well as the communication letters between celestials and the monastics.These are the first-hand materials of the research of Shangqing Daoism 's doctrines and literature.In recent years,the research on Zhengao has gradually entered the field of vision,with many excellent research results.This article will start from the texts and do literary analysis and research on the poetry of Zhengao from the literary point of view,.This paper is divided into five chapters.The first chapter mainly introduces the necessary literary premise of Zhengao's poetry text,the general situation of Zhengao,the characteristics of the combination of religiosity and literariness in poetry creation,and the identity characteristics of the main author Yang Xi and the monastic groups of the Shangqing Daoism.The second chapter mainly analyses related contents of poetry in shaping characters,performance scenes,social background from the perspective of fiction.From the content of the poetry,the chapter analyses its literary characteristics.The third chapter starts from the Taoist doctrines of Zhengao,and it discusses the contents which can reflect the Taoist cultivation methods in Zhengao's poems,including the method of ingesting the sunshine,the method of Ou Jing,the method of taking food,the method of health care and the ultimate goal of cultivation and refinement.This part is roughly related to the religious content of poetry.The fourth chapter mainly compares the relationship between the poems in Zhengao and poems created by poets in the same era.It compares in four aspects: the position of Zhengao's poems in the poetic environment,the literary imagination in history,the relationship among the main characters in the works and the expression methods of literator's poems.Compared with the religious poems conveying doctrines,Zhengao's poems are actually more inclined to literator's poems.The last chapter longitudinally discusses the role of Zhengao's poetry in the history of the development of literature and poetry.On the one hand,it is rich in the characteristics of the special era of Wei,Jin,the Southern and northern Dynasties,and it plays an important role in the history of poetry development.On the other hand,it also has an impact on the content of later poetry and the mentality of poets.To sum up,it is far from enough that Zhengao's poetry has been regarded as religious poetry all the time.It has the characteristics of shamanistic religion and literary novels at the same time.It is quite different from general religious poetry and has a great influence on later poetry.It is worth analyzing from the perspective of literature.
