The research on the maps of local chronicles is flourishing day by day,however,the research about the authors of local records maps is relatively weak.Basis on reading the photocopied local chronicles of Ming Dynasty,this paper discusses the identity of the cartographer of local chronicles of Ming Dynasty.In this paper,the identity of the cartographer of Ming Dynasty local chronicles is discussed with the samples of ?Selected Chronicles of Ming Dynasty in Tianyige?,?Supplement of Selected Chronicles of Ming Dynasty in Tianyige?,?Integration of Chinese Local Chronicles?,?Journal of Rare Chinese Local Chronicles?,?Series of Local Chronicles Collected by National Library? and photocopied local chronicles of rare local chronicles collected by provincial libraries of China.The full essay is divided into three chapters:The first chapter provides an overview of the regional and temporal distribution of the photocopied Ming local chronicles in different districts and dynasties,then classifies the existing maps in Ming local chronicles,and how Ming local chronicles maps were compiled and the sources of Ming local chronicles maps.Finally,analyzing the cognition of Ming local chronicles compilers on local chronicles maps.The second chapter mainly discusses the authors of maps in the local chronicles of Ming Dynasty.Firstly,it identifies who was the author of local chronicles maps.Authors of local records maps can be divided into direct authors and indirect authors.Only when the identity of map authors is clearly defined,will it be helpful to carry out subsequent related research.Secondly,the author's position in local chronicles in Ming Dynasty is expounded.Finally,the geographical distribution of authors of local records maps is discussed.The third chapter classifies the identity of the map authors found in the photocopied local chronicles.After a detailed textual research on their biographies of map authors,they are divided into four categories: officials,a Confucian scholar,artisans and ordinary person.Among them,the map authors are mainly magistrates and scholars in charge of Confucianism;The students are mainly Juren(Name of Officer student Rank),Taixue and Zhusheng.Artisans are mainly divided into three categories: painters,handicraft and engravers;Scholars who has never been an official include cloth,seclusion and others.Generally speaking,the authors of maps who are artisans occupy the mainstream position in local chronicles.
