Research On The Solidified Structure Of "Cai X" At The End Of The Sentence

"Cai X" at the end of the sentence is a solidified structure composed of the adverb "Cai" and the subjective evaluative adjective "X" with high frequency.This paper selects four typical members of "Caihao","Caidui","Caixing" and "Caishi" as the specific research objects,systematically analyzes the grammatical,semantic and pragmatic characteristics of the solidified structure of "Cai X",and further discusses the process and mechanism of it.Firstly,this paper analyzes the grammatical attribute of "Cai X" at the end of a sentence,and holds that "Cai X" is a solidified tone component,which has such solidified performances as phonetic weakening,structural stability and semantic ambiguity."Cai X" mainly appears in declarative and imperative sentences,and tends to be collocated with the auxiliary verbs expressing necessity,the modal adverbs indicating a necessary mood,and the end modal words expressing declarative mood and exclamatory mood.Secondly,this paper investigates the modal meaning of "Cai X",concludes that "Cai X" can express eight modal meaning categories,such as affirmation and confirmation,consultation and suggestion,prayer and hope,complaint and dissatisfaction,regret and introspection,confusion and incomprehension,sarcasm and ridicule,helpless,and then summarizes the core meaning of "Cai X" is the confirmation and emphasis of "reasonable ought",and further traces its semantic origin.On this basis,this paper explores the modal commonalities and differences among the members of "Cai X",and examines the modal effects of "Cai X" and the six final modal words with the present situation.Thirdly,this paper examines the discourse function of "Cai X" and holds that "Cai X" mainly matches five kinds of speech acts: assertion,instruction,expression,criticism and prayer.Meanwhile,due to the influence of lexicalization,grammaticalization and subjectivism,"Cai X" has the outstanding functions of subjective modal marking and communicative interaction.Finally,this paper traces the solidification process,motivations and mechanisms of "Cai X" from a diachronic perspective,respectively describes the vanishing path of "Caihao","Caidui","Caixing" and "Caishi",and then summarizes the vanishing path of the structure of "Cai X".The solidification motivations of "Cai X" include the influence of syntactic position,semantic virtualization and frequency of use,and the solidification mechanisms are mainly re-analysis,pragmatic reasoning and contextual absorption.
